The Design & Creativity WG aims to raise awareness of design and creativity as tools and drivers for innovation in different sectors and across Europe. Our objectives are the following: To present challenges; especially in relation to sectors that do not yet work with design (thinking) and creativity; to showcase the importance of design & creativity through good examples and concrete cases; to create a strong and vital community among our stakeholders across Europe through a bottom-up approach; to connect designers, thinkers, business, policy and society interested in finding common solutions for different challenges and to create opportunities for the WG members to develop project proposals, share their ideas, stories and ongoing activities with the EU community.

This first SEFS WG meeting will kick off the European Year of Skills in the ERRIN network and is open to members of all Working Groups. World Expression Forum (WEXFO) is hosting a discussion about initiatives to strengthen youth’s participation in democracy on 23 February between 09:30-13:00. Beginning with a presentation of the EU's support of freedom of expression, democracy and human rights, as well as EU project opportunities, and continuing with an introduction to World Expression Forum and our activities, with a particular focus on our project Youth’s participation in Society. The session will end with a networking lunch from 12:00.
On 17 February, Regione Liguria presents the Liguria NEB challenge 2023, an initiative aimed at area stakeholders interested in proposing territorial redevelopment projects according to the principles of beauty, sustainability and inclusion.

The CrAFt Cookbook outlines seven stages for urban transformation inspired by the New European Bauhaus, covering everything from conceptualisation to execution, documentation, and replication. Each stage highlights key principles and joint strategies, with real-life examples from CrAFt Cities, to inspire any city’s initiatives.

The project will look to use technologies based on artificial intelligence, to create a platform capable of valorising objects.

A handbook on the New European Bauhaus (NEB) was recently developed as part of the NEBULA project, a Coordination and Support Action funded by the Horizon Europe program. The handbook is addressed to any person or entity willing to understand the concepts underlying the New European Bauhaus initiative launched by the European Commission and get familiar with the associated resources and opportunities.
The Creative FLIP project has launched Creatives unite, the platform mapping cultural and creative sector working conditions in the EU. This tool is a unique EU-wide knowledge resource providing concise and factual information and allowing for comparative mappings and issue-based analysis.
The 2023 annual work programme for implementing the Creative Europe programme foresees the publication of a call for proposals with €1.05 million allocated to developing an action for cultural and creative sectors and industries. This call builds upon the European Parliament's pilot project results and the preparatory action FLIP (Finance, Learning, Innovation, and Patenting/IPR).
The Joint Research Centre’s EU Policy lab has opened two calls for local and regional authorities. The first call looks at packaging, waste sorting or waste sorting labels in the European Union. The second one calls for innovation, design or policy labs interested in water resilience.
Autumn 2023 marked the start of ERRIN’s targeted reflections on regional dimension in research and innovation in the new EU Multiannual Financial Framework post-2027, relating to the next EU Framework Programme for R&I (FP10) and future cohesion policy.
