The main objective of the Energy & Climate Change Working Group is to act as a platform to discuss and share information on energy-related policies and funding programmes, especially looking at the Green Deal and REPowerEU, the Green Industrial Plan, the Hydrogen Valleys, the energy storage and batteries (with reference to S3 Partnership on batteries) and Horizon Europe.
The priority areas also feature climate change issues (such as climate adaptation), nature-based solutions and natural resources. The WG is set to explore links and synergies with other areas in which energy and climate change play central role and cooperate with other ERRIN Working Groups, namely the Transport, Smart Cities, SEFS and S3 Working Groups, as well as the ERRIN Task Forces on climate adaptation and on the New European Bauhaus.
The meeting organised by the Transport and the Smart Cities WGs will focus on the proposed mobility strategies in the Climate Cities Contracts and the measures needed to reduce emissions.

The Repowering the EU with Hydrogen Valleys: showcasing innovative solutions event will take place at Autoworld, Brussels on 1 March 2023 from 14:00-17:00. This first SEFS WG meeting will kick off the European Year of Skills in the ERRIN network and is open to members of all Working Groups. ERRIN members will have an in-depth look at the Pact for Skills and we will learn about the state of play of this first flagship of the new European Skills Agenda. On 17 and 18 January 2024, ERRIN held an event focusing on stakeholder engagement methodologies in energy transition as part of its project, RIPEET. The Smart Cities WG is launching a questionnaire to collect input from members on the added value and impact of the Cities Mission on the local, regional and national level, which will be used in ERRIN's response to the European Commission's public consultation on the Horizon programmes. The "Compagnie Nationale du Rhône" is interested in joining a consortium as a partner in 3 HORIZON-CL6-BIODIV projects linked to biodiversity and water (invasive alien species, environmental DNA, innovative river restoration projects).
The RESIST project, launched last week, is a five-year EU-funded project coordinated by SINTEF in collaboration with INOVA+, which will support twelve regions across the EU in their efforts to build resilience against the impacts of climate change. ERRIN’s role in the project is to develop a Community of Practice and identify needs for a mutual-learning scheme. Following this, ERRIN will link LSD/Twinning regions with the wider Community of Interest.
