Energy & Climate Change
The main objective of the Energy & Climate Change Working Group is to act as a platform to discuss and share information on energy-related policies and funding programmes, especially looking at the Green Deal and REPowerEU, the Green Industrial Plan, the Hydrogen Valleys, the energy storage and batteries (with reference to S3 Partnership on batteries) and Horizon Europe.
The priority areas also feature climate change issues (such as climate adaptation), nature-based solutions and natural resources. The WG is set to explore links and synergies with other areas in which energy and climate change play central role and cooperate with other ERRIN Working Groups, namely the Transport, Smart Cities, SEFS and S3 Working Groups, as well as the ERRIN Task Forces on climate adaptation and on the New European Bauhaus.

SEFS WG Meeting: Kicking off the European Year of Skills in the ERRIN Network: State of play of the Pact for Skills and its regional dimension
This first SEFS WG meeting will kick off the European Year of Skills in the ERRIN network and is open to members of all Working Groups. Extended Deadline: Communities for Climate (C4C) Call
The C4C initiative will support 50 community-led projects in 11 European Union countries. These projects will be designed to engage citizens in addressing climate and sustainability issues. The focus areas for these projects are renewable energy, sustainable water management, circular and resource-efficient economy, and biodiversity.
The European Capital of Innovation Awards
In 2024, the European Innovation Council is celebrating the 10th anniversary of the European Capital of Innovation Awards. The competition rewards those European cities that are courageous enough to open their governance practices to experimentation and push the boundaries of technology for the benefit of their citizens. In addition to the monetary reward, the prize brings high visibility in the form of renewed public interest and increased media coverage. The deadline for submission is 18 June 2024, 17:00.
Deadline extension: application for the Cities Mission Twinning Learning Programme
Deadline extended until 7 June! Cities across the EU and Horizon Europe Associated Countries can apply to join the EU Cities Mission’s Twinning Learning Programme between 8 April and 7 June 2024. Facilitated by the NetZeroCities project, in which ERRIN is a partner, the Twinning Learning Programme will pair applicants with the second cohort of Pilot Cities, who act as innovation hubs to pursue activities related to rapid decarbonisation.

European Commission publishes Horizon Europe Work Programme for EU Missions
The European Commission has published the Horizon Europe Work Programme for 2021-2022, including the Work Programme for the five EU Missions. As a result of a budget increase, 19 new calls dedicated to the roll-out of the EU Missions have been announced.

A French-Spanish-Polish consortium is looking for a leader/partner of the project to apply to a New European Bauhaus call ( HORIZON EUROPE), related to the program: The New European Bauhaus – shaping a greener and fairer way of life in creative and inclusive societies through Architecture, Design and Arts possibly a municipality (bigger municipalities are ideal target but we consider the offer of smaller one as well), located in Europe and interested in developing innovative spatial green infrastructure but also SME’s, research centers etc.

NetZeroCities: contribute to the upcoming City Panels
The NetZeroCities project is now preparing two City Panels, which will give cities a chance to provide direct input and help shape NetZeroCities' products, services and processes. Any city is eligible to apply to participate in the panels, where they will be able to share their experience and expertise, crucial for ensuring the success of the NetZeroCities platform. The new EU Clean Hydrogen Partnership launched
The new EU Clean Hydrogen Partnership launch was announced this week during the opening keynote by the President von der Leyen at the EU Hydrogen Week 2021. The Partnership aims to bring together the European Commission, the hydrogen industry, researchers and innovators as well as policy-makers from the Member States, building on the joint efforts of Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking (FCH JU).

Join the Collaborative Network of the RE4Industry Project
The RE4Industry project seeks to promote the use of Renewable Energies for both heat and electricity generation for the decarbonization of Energy Intensive Industries. As part of the project, technical groups of pro bono advisers on renewable energies and the main results generated in the project were created.
