The Bioeconomy Working Group is looking for regional examples related to soil health and protection to present in its upcoming meeting, which will take place in person on 10 June at the ERRIN office in Brussels. The presentation can also be done online to support actors from back home in getting engaged in the discussion.
The Bioeconomy WG Leaders are looking for a diverse range of examples, including existing strategies and policies related to soil health at local and regional levels, to support mid and long-term commitment to soil health and strengthen evidence-based policy-making in this field. Piloting projects and initiatives showcasing how to embed good practices in policies (agriculture, environment, bioeconomy, spatial planning) or how to ensure the engagement and collaboration between the different actors on the mid and long-term, are also of particular interest.
ERRIN members and their stakeholders interested in sharing their examples during the upcoming meeting are invited to email gianpiero.petruzziello@errin.eu by Thursday 30 May 2024, with a short description of the proposed example.

The EU’s Framework Programme (FP) for Research and Innovation is a political instrument to achieve specific EU goals, in particular the Green Deal. The integration of social sciences and humanities (SSH) in transdisciplinary research is a necessity to reach these goals, which has been emphasized in previous FPs. However, further integration of SSH is considered a priority and the seminar will address this issue.
The seminar will focus on best practices and tools to reach a higher level of integration of SSH, in particular for climate- and health-specific issues:
The Panel will be led by the Stockholm Trio for Sustainable Action addressing complex sustainability challenges through the use of transdisciplinary approaches in collaboration with key stakeholders.
You can register via this link. Further details on the seminar will be available soon.

The 'EU Sparks for Climate' initiative is organising a series of online hackathons in several countries to facilitate the collaborative creation of innovative technological and social solutions by teams of citizens and researchers in support of the EU Mission for Climate Neutral and Smart Cities and the EU Mission for Adaptation to Climate Change.
To participate, citizens must first propose a climate challenge relevant to their community, city or region, while researchers must bring their expertise to work with citizens to develop the solutions.
Hackathons will be held on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday afternoons, as well as on Saturdays (full day). All hackathons will be virtual.
Each hackathon is facilitated by a local host. There are local hosts in 18 Member States and 4 associated countries. The winners of each local hackathon will have access to a dedicated training and coaching programme aimed at honing their skills and preparing them for the EU final.
At the EU final, three winning teams will be selected to receive €5,000 per team, access to the Angel Investors Network, tailored mentoring, support to commercialise the solution, support for a crowdfunding campaign and support to scale the solution.
Learn more about the exact dates of the nationally-led online hackathons on the dedicated website and register here.
