Introduction to the project

The AdaptationHubs project aims to strengthen climate adaptation efforts by establishing 27 National Multilevel Governance AdaptationHubs. These hubs bring together national expert organisations closely linked to their respective adaptation governance frameworks. By leveraging existing structures and involving key stakeholders from the start, the project ensures an efficient and impactful approach. The hubs facilitate knowledge-sharing, cooperation and best practice exchange at national and transnational levels. Through targeted actions, AdaptationHubs aims to improve policy coherence, enhance adaptation strategies and ensure the long-term sustainability of governance structures supporting climate resilience.

Project in action

AdaptationHubs will start by defining and implementing the 27 governance hubs, engaging key stakeholders and integrating existing structures. Each hub develops and executes an action plan, including five dedicated sessions tailored to national contexts. Peer-learning activities foster cross-border cooperation, while hubs focus on a multi-level governance approach, ensuring representation from all governance levels. The project also facilitates a twinning programme to enable targeted transnational exchanges. Ultimately, these efforts strengthen climate adaptation policies, enhance knowledge-sharing and ensure the long-term sustainability of governance frameworks to address climate challenges effectively.

Benefits for members and Links with ERRIN’s Working Groups and priorities

ERRIN has been actively involved in developing and implementing the EU Missions over the past several years. The Climate Adaptation Task Force drives and structures ERRIN’s work on the Mission Adaptation to Climate Change. ERRIN’s participation in the AdaptationHubs project ensures that Climate Adaptation and Resilience Working Group members receive first-hand information about the project's opportunities. The project allows ERRIN to relate its members to their national multilevel governance and foster cooperation between national, regional, and local stakeholders.
