Bioeconomy
The Working Group focuses on increasing the influence of regions and their stakeholders in shaping the European circular bioeconomy while also focusing on the Horizon Europe Mission Soil. The group covers the bioeconomy in the widest sense, tackling issues related to topics such as food systems, soil health, forestry, bioenergy, biowaste, bio-based products, among other things. Seeing the growing role of the bioeconomy in decarbonisation efforts, the group also concentrates on the ecological sustainability of these solutions (e.g. nature-based solutions, green and blue solutions for carbon capture). The group develops contacts with European policymakers to increase cooperation and projects between European regions in bioeconomy, with a particular focus on Horizon Europe and the Circular Bio-based Europe Partnership.

Living in the Bioeconomy Conference
The Government Offices of Sweden is organising the conference 'Living in Bioeconomy' on 27 - 28 February. The event is organised in the context of the Swedish presidency of the Council of the European Union and will take place in Stockholm and online.

SEFS WG Meeting: Kicking off the European Year of Skills in the ERRIN Network: State of play of the Pact for Skills and its regional dimension
This first SEFS WG meeting will kick off the European Year of Skills in the ERRIN network and is open to members of all Working Groups. ERRIN members will have an in-depth look at the Pact for Skills and we will learn about the state of play of this first flagship of the new European Skills Agenda. We will also discuss with the European Commission the regional dimension of the Pact for Skills, the Regional Skills Partnerships and showcase examples from the Lombardy Region and the European Chemical Regions Network.
CITIES TALK NATURE WEBINAR: Making nature-based solutions work for all - avoiding green gentrification
In the seventh CITIES TALK NATURE webinar, taking place on 16 February between 16:00-17:30, discussions will build on the recently published GOLD VI Report on Pathways to Urban and Territorial Equality, developed by United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) in partnership with the Knowledge in Action for Urban Equality (KNOW) research consortium.
Bioeconomy Working Group Breakfast meeting: 2023 kick off
This Bioeconomy Working Group breakfast meeting offers an opportunity for all Bioeconomy WG members to come together to network and jointly kick-off the WG activities for 2023. The WG leaders will present the annual plan for the new year, along with the European Commission presenting the Circular Cities and Regions Initiative (CCRI), to discuss how the WG members can be involved in the planned work.

The ERRIN Bioeconomy Working Group, in collaboration with the Bio-based Industries Consortium (BIC), is currently drafting a document that underscores the pivotal role of regions and the synergies with the private sector in driving forward the circular bioeconomy. Handbook on implementation and adoption barriers of urban living labs developing nature-based solutions
Developing Urban Living Labs is a relatively novel approach in urban areas, and consequently, there are many challenges and barriers that cities face during ULL adoption. This handbook, developed by the UNaLab project, aims to identify and explore some common barriers to the adoption of Urban Living Labs, and provide cities with a tool and an understanding of how to strategically address these barriers.

Driving the transition towards healthy soils in Europe: SOILL - Support Structure for SOIL Living Labs
ERRIN is pleased to announce its participation in the Framework Partnership 'SOILL - Support Structure for SOIL Living Labs' which is currently in the Grant Agreement Preparation stage and set to commence in January 2024. SOILL will support, organise, expand and advocate for the network of 100 Soil Mission Living Labs and Lighthouses throughout the entire implementation of the Mission Soil.

Circular Bio-based Europe partnership has been launched
This week marked the launch of the new Circular Bio-based Europe Joint Undertaking (CBE JU). The Bioeconomy Working Group leaders have in the past year been following the development of the partnership by organising discussions with both the BBI JU Programme Office and with representatives of the Bio-based Industries Consortium.
