Energy & Climate Change
The main objective of the Energy & Climate Change Working Group is to act as a platform to discuss and share information on energy-related policies and funding programmes, especially looking at the Green Deal and REPowerEU, the Green Industrial Plan, the Hydrogen Valleys, the energy storage and batteries (with reference to S3 Partnership on batteries) and Horizon Europe.
The priority areas also feature climate change issues (such as climate adaptation), nature-based solutions and natural resources. The WG is set to explore links and synergies with other areas in which energy and climate change play central role and cooperate with other ERRIN Working Groups, namely the Transport, Smart Cities, SEFS and S3 Working Groups, as well as the ERRIN Task Forces on climate adaptation and on the New European Bauhaus.

Regulatory sandboxes in the energy sector
The Energy and Climate Change Working Group is organising its upcoming meeting on regulatory sandboxes in the energy sector on Tuesday 12 December from 14:00 to 15:30 CET. Available support to regions in EU Mission Adaptation
To support regions and communities in achieving the ambition of the EU Mission Adaptation to Climate Change, the EU has funded several projects to provide support services to Charter signatories and beyond in the different steps of the journey. ERRIN's project, Pathways2Resilience is a flagship project under the EU Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change, working to empower 150 regions in developing transformative adaptation plans. NetZeroCities Call for Pilot Cities
The NetZeroCities project, in which ERRIN is a partner, has opened a second Call for Pilot Cities. Mission Cities which are not yet part of the Pilot Cities Programme can apply to test and implement innovative approaches towards rapid decarbonisation. The Call for Pilot Cities is open until 6 November 2023 17.00 CET.
ERRIN Extraordinary General Meeting on 16 November 2023 – important announcement for members
All ERRIN members are invited to save the date for the ERRIN Extraordinary General Meeting, which will take place on 16 November 2023 in the ERRIN premises. The meeting is organised to make the necessary changes to the ERRIN Articles of Association and a minimum of 2/3 of the ERRIN members must be represented. Therefore, the engagement of each member is of key importance (participation is possible online for associate members).
ERRIN is looking for a Project and Policy Manager (Climate)
ERRIN is looking for a Project and Policy Manager to join its Secretariat! The successful candidate will support the delivery of the Horizon Europe Mission on Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities and take an active role in some of the thematic working groups related to tackling climate and the green transition. Apply by 20 September!
Publication of the call for evidence to REpowering the EU with Hydrogen Valleys
On 19 July 2023, the European Commission published a call for evidence to collect further input from multiple stakeholders for a European roadmap for Hydrogen Valleys. This roadmap will outline the strategic priorities and actions needed to reach the REPowerEU objective of doubling the number of Hydrogen Valleys in the EU by 2025. The Energy and Climate Change WG and Policy WG are working on an input paper for this call. The deadline for direct submission to the Commission is 16 August.
EU Missions: The European Commission publishes its first mid-term review
On 19 July, the European Commission (EC) published a Communication on the assessment of the EU Missions after two years of implementation. The EC details the Missions' successes but also recognises the need to address challenges related to governance, budget, citizens and private sector engagement. The EC also proposes to add a sixth Mission on the New European Bauhaus.
DUT Call 2023 to open in September
The second call of the European Partnership 'Driving Urban Transitions' (DUT) will open on 1 September 2023. The call topics, grouped into three themes on Positive Energy Districts, the 15-minute City and Circular Urban Economies, can already be consulted on the DUT website.
