The main objective of the Energy & Climate Change Working Group is to act as a platform to discuss and share information on energy-related policies and funding programmes, especially looking at the Green Deal and REPowerEU, the Green Industrial Plan, the Hydrogen Valleys, the energy storage and batteries (with reference to S3 Partnership on batteries) and Horizon Europe.
The priority areas also feature climate change issues (such as climate adaptation), nature-based solutions and natural resources. The WG is set to explore links and synergies with other areas in which energy and climate change play central role and cooperate with other ERRIN Working Groups, namely the Transport, Smart Cities, SEFS and S3 Working Groups, as well as the ERRIN Task Forces on climate adaptation and on the New European Bauhaus.

As part of EWRC, Pomorskie region is holding a session on Energy transition – making local and regional solutions replicable for Europe on 11 October from 09:30-10:30. This workshop will cover initiatives that are contributing to decarbonisation efforts at local/regional level and showcase projects that are establishing integrated local energy systems (energy islands).
As part of EWRC, three local projects from Oslo, Gothenburg and Madrid on the importance of approaching the green transition through inclusive skills development will be presented. The Innovation Fund 2023 calls covering sectors including decarbonisation, hydrogen, cleantech manufacturing, and maritime and energy-intensive industries are open until 9 April 2024, 17:00 (CET).

In a dynamic two-day event held on 21 and 22 November, MOSAIC, project in which ERRIN is a partner, successfully hosted its final event 'Co-creation in EU Missions'. A Spanish-Polish consortium is looking for a leader of the project, within the LIFE program, related to priority: “Climate change mitigation and adaptation” possibly a municipality, located in the south of Europe (Spain, France, Italy, Germany) interested in developing innovative spatial green infrastructure. Project objectives: comparison of the micro-climatic functionality of the PMS structures for both locations where they will be built, i.e. under conditions of cool Central European climate and warm Southern European climate in the context of cooling of the “heat islands” in the city centers, as well as comparison of the functioning of these structures in a different urban contexts in social, cultural and economic terms.

Mobilising ERRIN’s Energy & Climate Change Working Group leaders, the RIPEET project will support Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) policy experimentations for energy transition in three European territories: Extremadura (ES), Highlands and Islands of Scotland (UK) and Ostrobothnia (FI).
