ERRIN’s Health Working Group (WG) supports members with early intelligence and regular updates about EU-level health policy-related issues, regulations, EU programmes and their funding opportunities. The Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN) and the Research Council of Italy (CNR) are organising a conference on Polish-Italian cooperation in the field of biomedicine, on 27 October in Rome. The meeting will be an occasion to meet researchers from Poland and Italy, discuss relevant scientific questions, and explore opportunities for future collaborative research.
Welcome to a roundtable event on “Inflammation in Health and Disease” organised by InFlames Flagship and MEP Ville Niinistö. The upcoming ERRIN Policy Working Group meeting on 19 October will focus on Horizon Europe strategic planning for 2025-2027, taking stock of EU Missions and preparations to FP10. A European Commission representative will join the event to present the latest insights and discuss with members. We will also explore how ERRIN could best contribute to the ongoing work.
As part of the European Week of Regions and Cities an event on "Social and Health Integration: the roles of Regions in the framework of the European initiatives" is being held. The event will take place on 11 October from 11:30-12:30.
This in-person ERRIN event on 4 October, organised in line with the Management Board priority on widening and deepening engagement in R&I, invites all ERRIN members to share and explore the ways to develop their regional innovation ecosystems going beyond any specific initiatives or funding opportunities. The event will enable informal mutual learning and exchanges of practices between network colleagues from across Europe in an interactive way.

The European Commission has launched new calls for proposals to support research and innovation for its five EU Missions and the New European Bauhaus (NEB). ERRIN encourages all members and their stakeholders to express interest in the EU Missions and NEB calls through the ERRIN Project Development Tool (PDT).
The European Commission opened an opportunity to provide input for the development of the Horizon Europe ‘main’ work programme 2025. Submitted responses will contribute to the co-design of the work programme 2025, covering all six clusters, research infrastructures, European innovation ecosystems, the five EU Missions and the New European Bauhaus facility. The deadline for feedback is 6 May 2024 midday, CEST.
In 2024, the European Innovation Council is celebrating the 10th anniversary of the European Capital of Innovation Awards. The competition rewards those European cities that are courageous enough to open their governance practices to experimentation and push the boundaries of technology for the benefit of their citizens. In addition to the monetary reward, the prize brings high visibility in the form of renewed public interest and increased media coverage. The deadline for submission is 18 June 2024, 17:00.
On 20 March, the Commission published the first report on the state of play of the New European Innovation Agenda, following its launch in July 2022. The document outlines the progress and achievements with regard to the 25 actions under Agenda’s five flagships, including the Regional Innovation Valleys. On the same day, an EU R&I Days debate on the way forward for RIVs was also held.
On 20 March, the Commission adopted the second Horizon Europe strategic plan. The plan sets out three key strategic orientations for the EU's research and innovation funding for the last three years of the programme (2025-2027). Find out what novelties the new strategic plan brings.
Interreg Europe's 3rd call for proposals, launched on 20 March, supports interregional cooperation projects addressing common regional development challenges. Organisations can use the ERRIN Project Development tool to express interest and find partners. The call is open until 7 June 2024.
Poznan Institute of Technology is a part of Lukasiewicz Research Network, which is third largest research network in Europe. It consists of 26 institutes, 400 laboratories and 4500 scientists. The Institution has over 20 years experience in EU participation in European R&D projects.
DG RTD has launched a study to collect insights on the missions' selection process, their governance, budget, instruments and actions as well as their focus and progress to date. The study seeks to identify what has worked well and less well, draw lessons, and make suggestions for improvement in the short and longer-term of EU Missions' implementation. The deadline to complete the survey is 15 March.
The Mental Health Research Group of a Hospital Research Institute, is preparing an on-going proposal for the topic HORIZON-HLTH-2023-TOOL-05-04: Better integration and use of health-related real-world and research data, including genomics, for improved clinical outcomes.
The region of Southern Denmark and the Haderslev Municipality are looking for partners to form a consortium to apply to the Interreg second call on the topic of obesity. The deadline for expressions of interest is 3 March.
