The competition rewards those European cities that are courageous enough to open their governance practices to experimentation and push the boundaries of technology for the benefit of their citizens. This week a political agreement was reached between the EU Member States and the European Parliament on the EIT and its new Strategic Innovation Agenda 2021-2027. Also agreed was the launch of two new Knowledge and Innovation Communities.
2021 marks a start of the new EU financial period that comes with new programmes, instruments and actions. Taking full advantage of those new opportunities for regions and regional innovation ecosystems is one of our key priorities this year.
