Science & Education for Society
The Science & Education for Society Working Group addresses topics related to the concept of place-based universities and engagement with society and citizens while also working on the role of education (both VET and Higher Education) in the Research and Innovation Smart Specialisation Strategies (RIS3) as well as education and skills for research and innovation. The Working Group facilitates information sharing, knowledge development, and aims to strengthen existing and build new relationships with the EU institutions. Facilitating project development is also part of the Working Group's scope. For this purpose, the Working Group assesses the interest of the membership for specific calls under Erasmus+ and support in the most efficient way the members in building consortia, primarily with the ERRIN online tool for project development.

Opening Science WG
The meeting will focus on the role of universities and citizens in the future framework programme. On July 3rd the European Commission published the report of the High Level Group on the future of European research policy.
International Cooperation on Research and Innovation
The next Opening Science WG Meeting will take place on 12th September, from 2 to 5 pm, at the Copenhagen EU offices, 3 rue du Luxembourg. The focal point of the event will be the structural/strategic support of international research and innovation cooperation.

Shape ERRIN's agenda 2024 - Annual Member Survey

Sparking collaborations and project opportunities within the ERRIN Culture & Creativity Cluster
Last month, the Cultural Heritage & Tourism Working Group, alongside the Design & Creativity Working Group and the New European Bauhaus Task Force, launched a survey to map members' interest in the upcoming Horizon Europe calls focusing on cross-cutting areas such as culture, creativity, and tourism, circular economy and design with deadlines in early 2024. Following the positive response and active participation of over 50 ERRIN members in the consultation, ERRIN hosted a project development session to foster collaboration opportunities and spark project ideas.
169 country actions in support of the New European Innovation Agenda
On 19 September 2023, the European Commission published the list of actions that Member States and Associated Countries to Horizon Europe are so far undertaking or planning to undertake in support of one or more of the five flagships of the New European Innovation Agenda, including Flagship 3 closely followed by ERRIN. 20 countries have so far reported 169 actions in total, with their scope ranging from regional, through national to European.

Exploring Regional Science Diplomacy Seminar
Science diplomacy has traditionally been positioned in the framework of national and supranational endeavors. Consequently, the discourse and investigation into science diplomacy at the subnational regional level remains scant. This oversight is notable considering these actors also play a key role on the international stage, including through leveraging their scientific research and innovation capabilities to bolster their global profiles and contribute to solving global problems. The Pact for Skills for CCIs - What next after the Year of Skills?

CHARTER Webinar: Cultural Heritage Sector Dynamics across Europe: exploring gaps and needs in professional development
The CHARTER EU Skills Alliance for Cultural Heritage, one of ERRIN's projects, is organising a webinar on 29 May to present the project's findings on the sector's integrated dynamics and examine relevant stakeholders in the heritage sector. It will also allow participants to get insights into the process of mapping the cultural heritage sector in terms of skills and needs shortages in educational and professional contexts. The speakers will also present future scenarios and solutions.

ESD Talk #2 - Uncovering skills for the future in healthcare
TEACH4SD is launching ESD-Talk#2: UNCOVERING SKILLS FOR THE FUTURE IN HEALTHCARE. This ESD-talk: will look into the health sector from the skills side. This joint Policy and Smart Specialisation Working Groups meeting will concentrate on widening as one of the key issues to address in the FP10 debate, considering also its impact on cohesion policy post-2027.
