Science & Education for Society

The Science & Education for Society Working Group addresses topics related to the concept of place-based universities and engagement with society and citizens while also working on the role of education (both VET and Higher Education) in the Research and Innovation Smart Specialisation Strategies (RIS3) as well as education and skills for research and innovation. The Working Group facilitates information sharing, knowledge development, and aims to strengthen existing and build new relationships with the EU institutions. Facilitating project development is also part of the Working Group's scope. For this purpose, the Working Group assesses the interest of the membership for specific calls under Erasmus+ and support in the most efficient way the members in building consortia, primarily with the ERRIN online tool for project development.

EU Missions Info Days 2024

On 25 and 26 April, the European Commission is organising Info Days dedicated to the EU Missions 2024 calls for proposals. The event will provide potential applicants with information on the new topics included in the EU Missions work programme 2024 under Horizon Europe. An update on the implementation of each Mission will also be provided.

Policy WG meeting: Role of EU Missions in FP10

ERRIN has been actively working on the topic of EU Missions as one of the network's priorities. As we continue preparations towards the next European Framework Programme for R&I, the upcoming Policy Working Group meeting will focus on the role of EU Missions in FP10. The event will take place in person at the ERRIN premises on 23 April from 14:00-16:00.

Co-creation and citizen engagement in EU Missions Workshop

ERRIN is supporting the REINFORCING project in organising an interactive workshop aimed at exploring the challenges and needs faced by cities and regions regarding citizen engagement within the EU Missions. The project will support organisations financially with specific training, capacity-building sessions, mentoring opportunities and peer learning. The workshop will be organised on 23 April between 11:30-13:00 at ERRIN’s office.

Evaluating the societal innovation impact of R&I: learnings from Horizon 2020 and looking forward to FP10

This forthcoming SEFS Working Group meeting on Monday, 22 April, is dedicated to the outcomes of the Ex post-evaluation of Horizon 2020 was published on 29 January 2024. It will discuss the impact of Horizon 2020 funding for social innovation and look forward to FP10. The aim of the meeting is to foster a better understanding of what worked well and what the remaining challenges are.

Regulatory Sandboxes as Enablers for CleanTech and Circular Innovation – EU Level Experiences and Future Collaboration Possibilities

This in-person event focuses on what regulatory sandboxes can provide to facilitate the deployment of disruptive technologies in CleanTech and Circularity. Regulatory sandboxes are an experimentation tool allowing innovators to develop and test products, services and business models in a controlled real-world environment supervised by authorities. The event will take place in Brussels on 22 April, 11:30-17:00.

All ERRIN members are invited to save the date for the ERRIN Extraordinary General Meeting, which will take place on 16 November 2023 in the ERRIN premises. European Commission launches the Harnessing Talent Platform- Call for Working Group Participation

Deadline extended until 22 September! The European Commission has just launched the Harnessing Talent Platform (HTP), a centralised online hub providing relevant information, knowledge, and assistance to help EU regions dealing with demographic challenges to attract, develop and retain talent. A call is now open for stakeholders to join 4 Working Groups on Digital, Health, Research & Innovation and Territorial themes.

Looking for Primary school from France or Netherlands for Erasmus+ project on food culture

Spotlight on future food! Mini youth festival that combines knowledge, science, sustainability and taste. About the project The project aims to create awareness of pelagic fish specifically and the magical world of fishing in general. The project takes places on a local school over the course of a week with the first four days involving both practical and creative learning. Through a combination of workshops and relevant theories the participants will gain knowledge on how to catch and handle pelagic fish. After the first four intensive days, the final day will be a celebration with the local community where all young people from Thisted and the surrounding area will be invited, alongside our partner school from France. This day will be full of activities for everybody, including kitchen workshops, talks and much more. Prior to this ‘festival day’, all schools in the area will be offered learning materials specifically aimed at these activities, to ensure the best learning experience for everyone participating.

Applications for project ideas for the 2021 ERRIN Erasmus+ Project Development Workshop are now open! The PDW will take place on Tuesday 7 October 2021 and applications for project ideas can be submitted until 17 October 2021. This is an excellent opportunity for ERRIN members to engage their innovation ecosystems and stakeholders to put forward their project ideas and benefit from the potential partnerships that can be formed through this workshop.

In order to ensure the event’s success, the ERRIN secretariat and the SEFS WG leaders will rely on a task force of volunteers to support the planning and practicalities of the PDW.
