The Central Denmark EU Office (CDEU) represents the 19 municipalities of the Central Denmark region as well as the Central Denmark regional government, Aarhus University and VIA University College. Central Denmark region comprises the central part of Jutland from coast to coast and is home to Aarhus, the second largest city in Denmark and European Capital of Culture 2017. Central Denmark is a very diverse region and has a special focus on innovation, healthcare, education, research, tourism, energy, environment and culture. The Central Denmark EU Office has teams and advisors dedicated to each of these areas.

The Everywhere International SMEs (EIS) project brings together nine partners from seven regions across Europe. The EIS project aims at promoting excellence in regional business support systems for internationalising SMEs by sharing best practises.

The RESIST project - testing adaptation solutions to key climate challenges

The RESIST project, launched last week, is a five-year EU-funded project coordinated by SINTEF in collaboration with INOVA+, which will support twelve regions across the EU in their efforts to build resilience against the impacts of climate change. ERRIN’s role in the project is to develop a Community of Practice and identify needs for a mutual-learning scheme. Following this, ERRIN will link LSD/Twinning regions with the wider Community of Interest.

Management Board elections 2022 – results

Between 3 and 17 October, ERRIN members could put forward their candidatures for this year’s ERRIN Management Board elections. Five new Management Board members were selected and approved at the Autumn Annual General Meeting on 8 December.

100 ERRIN member cities and regions become signatories of the EU Mission for Adaptation to Climate Change Charter

During the recent European Research and Innovation Days, the European Commission announced the 2nd wave of signatories to the EU Mission for Adaptation to Climate Change Charter, with a further 100 regions and local authorities signing. Of the now 215 signatories, a staggering 100 are associated with ERRIN member cities and regions.

SUSTAIN-3D (Supporting SME Transformation within 3D-printing)

We have identified a certain willingness of companies to invest in additive manufacturing machinery (3D Printers) and other technologies related to this. But the companies are not gaining the expected outcomes: Machines aren't utilized to the full potential and as production grade machines are expensive the companies are hesitant to invest in the machines they need and implementation on the production- and management floor is not optimal.  This problem is identified in local company networks and best illustrated by the average deployment of already installed machinery like metal 3D-printers of below 3%. This problem needs addressing as it has the potential to slow the digital transformation of production industry.

VIA University College seeks consortium for Erasmus+ Teacher Academies

As one of six university colleges in Denmark, VIA University College educates e.g. teachers, pre-school and early childhood learning specialists, nurses, social workers, engineers and designers and offer education programmes in 11 cities of the Central Denmark Region. VIA also has seven research and development centres including centres and programs developing and researching digital learning, sustainability and inclusion. VIA is searching for partners to build an Erasmus+ Teacher Academy.
