S3 Partnership publishes position paper for a dedicated roadmap for Hydrogen Valleys

The European Hydrogen Valleys S3 Partnership was created in June 2019 to share information, promote investment and develop regional policy planning around hydrogen. It is coordinated by four pioneer regions, all ERRIN member organisations, in the field of hydrogen: Aragon, Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes, Normandy and Northern Netherlands. The Partnership now involves more than 60 European regional authorities located in over 14 European countries, ranging from Norway to Bulgaria.

The Partnership recently published a position paper 'Through the Valley to the top: Why the EU needs a dedicated roadmap for Hydrogen Valleys", attached to this news item.

ERRIN welcomes this initiative, as it calls on the European Commission to pay particular attention to several topics in its future Hydrogen Valleys Roadmap, namely:

  • Regulatory incentives
  • Building a dedicated projects pipeline and financial incentives
  • Research and innovation, skills and public acceptance
  • Cooperation between Hydrogen Valleys at EU level

After our meeting, organised on 16 February 2023, dedicated to the role of Regions in new EU policy development and the Clean Hydrogen partnership, ERRIN, and the Energy and Climate Working Group will continue to monitor this initiative and advocate for a strong regional dimension for Hydrogen Valleys.
