Representatives of Brussels-based offices leading the work of the Cultural Heritage & Tourism Working Group.
The Cultural Heritage and Tourism Working Group has two main lines of action: Sustainable Tourism and Cultural Heritage, and the policies and actions that link the two areas. In this context, the WG investigates R&I-related measures to mitigate touristic flows' environmental and social impact and encourage the transition towards sustainable tourism and cultural policies and practices. To this end, the WG supports ERRIN members in the uptake of digital technologies and the development of skills/competences in the Cultural Heritage and Tourism sectors, facilitating exchanges of good practices and developing new projects.
Finally, the Working Group aims to provide early information to members on cultural heritage and tourism policy future strands, financial tools, inter-regional joint activities, EU calls, and disseminating open opportunities and results of key ongoing projects.

Applications for the Destination of Sustainable Cultural Tourism Awards 2023 are now open! The theme of the 2023 edition is “Smart Tourism – Smart Destinations: Cultural Heritage & Creativity, Digitalisation, Sustainability”. The Awards will be given to cultural tourist destinations that have produced significant results, such as enhancing the visitor experience, respecting traditions and involving local communities. With the European Heritage Stories, communities across the continent are invited to share their special stories about Europe’s cultural heritage. All of the stories that meet the eligibility criteria will be published as European Heritage Days Stories, promoted at European level, and receive a grant of up to €10,000. The “Association des Amis de la Fondation Seguin” is looking for European partners in the context of the transformation of the Varagnes domain (in Ardèche, France). The aim is to protect the cultural heritage of the domain of Varagnes created by Marc Seguin, and to promote responsible innovation through the Seguin Foundation. The idea is to transform the Varagnes domain which is dedicated to creation, research and innovation into a place for cultural activities that will host projects with university researchers, schools, cultural associations, artists, businesses and communities as well as events combining arts and sciences.
ERRIN's peer learning programme Cultural Heritage in Action continues with the second phase in 2021-2023. The project will now widen its catalogue with more good practices and will organise a set of peer-learning activities on three enlarged topics. Two calls are already open.
