The Working Group promotes cooperation and facilitates dialogue between regions in the field of transport, mobility and logistics as well as with the EU institutions to raise awareness of the regional and local dimensions of the thematic areas. The group fosters discussion on new developments in EU policy and facilitates project development and participation in European projects.

Webinar: Mapping of 15-minute city practices

This webinar will present the results of a mapping of 100 cities and their 400+ practices connected to the wider realm of 15-minute policies, as well as a deep dive into six case studies from across Europe. The mapping has been conducted as part of the 15-minute City Transition Pathway of the Driving Urban Transitions Partnership, aiming to build an informed perspective on the vast range of practical definitions, strategies, instruments, experiences of implementation, and needs for research and innovation. The webinar will take place on 30 April between 14:00-16:00 CEST.

The event will provide potential applicants with information on the new topics included in the EU Missions work programme 2024 under Horizon Europe. An update on the implementation of each Mission will also be provided.

The conference "The Port of Ravenna Logistic System: A Mediterranean Gateway to and from Europe" will take place on 23 April 2024 from 16.00 to 19.30 at the Emilia-Romagna Region EU Delegation in Brussels. The event aims to present the Port of Ravenna’s logistic system, its strategic network and commercial links, future development plans, and main logistic assets in the area. The conference will explore a rapidly expanding seaport hub and logistic facilities situated at the crossroads of two crucial EU TEN-T corridors - the Mediterranean and Baltic-Adriatic.

23 new Mission Cities awarded the Mission Label

Provisional agreement on TEN-T for sustainable connectivity in Europe

On December 2023, the Council presidency and European Parliament's negotiators reached a provisional agreement on a revised regulation regarding EU guidelines for the development of the trans-European transport network (TEN-T). The revised TEN-T will include key new features.

ERRIN invites its members to provide input to three policy papers on Mobility as a Service (MaaS), drones and hydrogen mobility solutions. The RECIPROCITY policy papers provide policy recommendations for local and regional authorities and European institutions to effectively implement MaaS, drones and hydrogen mobility solutions at local level. By contributing, members can express their needs and priorities, showcase regional examples and influence the future of smart and clean mobility in European cities.

EU Missions: The European Commission publishes its first mid-term review

On 19 July, the European Commission (EC) published a Communication on the assessment of the EU Missions after two years of implementation. The EC details the Missions' successes but also recognises the need to address challenges related to governance, budget, citizens and private sector engagement. The EC also proposes to add a sixth Mission on the New European Bauhaus.

On 6 July, the ERRIN Transport Working Group and POLIS organised a meeting on the impact of the revised TEN-T regulation on the urban nodes. The event put the focus on the role of the Connecting Europe Facility in effectively implementing the new requirements at local and regional levels.

Circular economy: improving design and end-of-life management of cars for more resource-efficient automotive sector

The Commission is proposing new measures to enhance the circularity of the automotive sector, covering the design, production and end-of-life treatment of vehicles. The proposed regulation is expected to have substantial environmental benefits, including an annual reduction of 12.3 million tons of CO2 emissions by 2035, better valorisation of 5.4 million tons of materials, and increased recovery of critical raw materials.
