ERRIN response to the Circular Economy Act Consultation

ERRIN response to the Circular Economy Act Consultation

On 5 November, ERRIN submitted its response to the European Commission’s consultation on the upcoming EU Circular Economy Act.

ERRIN’s Bioeconomy Working Group has actively followed the consultation process, ensuring that regional perspectives, challenges and expectations are effectively represented.

Building on ERRIN’s extensive network of regional and local innovation ecosystems, this input paper captures the insights and expertise of leading European regional and local authorities at the forefront of advancing circular economy solutions. This contribution was further enriched through a dedicated ERRIN meeting held on 21 October 2025, which brought together over 70 regional and local stakeholders from across Europe to discuss priorities, challenges, and opportunities related to the forthcoming Circular Economy Act.

In its contribution, ERRIN welcomes the European Commission’s ambition to strengthen Europe’s circular transition and underlines the crucial role of regional and local ecosystems in translating policy into action. ERRIN calls for a coherent and stable policy framework that supports long-term investment, harmonised regulation and the growth of circular markets across Europe.

ERRIN also highlights the importance of regional collaboration, innovation and funding as key enablers of the circular economy and encourages the EU to continue recognising and supporting regional actors in driving systemic change.
