Bioeconomy
The Working Group focuses on increasing the influence of regions and their stakeholders in shaping the European circular bioeconomy while also focusing on the Horizon Europe Mission Soil. The group covers the bioeconomy in the widest sense, tackling issues related to topics such as food systems, soil health, forestry, bioenergy, biowaste, bio-based products, among other things. Seeing the growing role of the bioeconomy in decarbonisation efforts, the group also concentrates on the ecological sustainability of these solutions (e.g. nature-based solutions, green and blue solutions for carbon capture). The group develops contacts with European policymakers to increase cooperation and projects between European regions in bioeconomy, with a particular focus on Horizon Europe and the Circular Bio-based Europe Partnership.

Additionally, the event will present a tentative contribution to implementing the ambitious EU Biodiversity Strategy 2030.
International workshop on Emerging policy challenges on New SOil contaminants (ENSOr)
The 5th international edition of the ENSOR workshop will focus on the challenges related to diffuse soil pollution with emerging contaminants. This workshop will tackle questions about the impact of diffuse soil pollution on the reuse of excavated soil, on ground water supplies and food safety. It will also zoom into how to monitor and assess the risks, and the policies needed to tackle challenges such as diffuse pollution resulting from emissions from traffic, agricultural practices (e.g. fertilizers and plant protection products), discharges of WWTPs and floods.
HuMUS Call for Proposals - Online Info Day
The HuMUS project is organising an online info day about its cascade funding call 'Engage with and activate municipalities and regions to protect and restore soil health'. The online event will take place on 07 March 2024 from 10:30 CET.
2nd European Mission Forum
The second edition of the European Mission Forum, taking place on 7 March in Brussels and co-organised by the TRAMI project under the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the EU, will showcase EU Mission-related achievements and present outcomes of nearly 2 years of TRAMI project activities. ERRIN's director, Pirita Lindholm, will speak at the session on national, regional and European Mission Governance.
Linking water & agriculture science to policy: WATERAGRI Project Event
The WATERAGRI project is holding an event, Linking water & agriculture: science to policy, a mini-conference. The event will take place on 6 March from 08:30-16:00 and will discuss innovative methods for achieving a positive impact at farm level in the EU regarding water sustainability in agriculture.

Handbook on implementation and adoption barriers of urban living labs developing nature-based solutions
Developing Urban Living Labs is a relatively novel approach in urban areas, and consequently, there are many challenges and barriers that cities face during ULL adoption. This handbook, developed by the UNaLab project, aims to identify and explore some common barriers to the adoption of Urban Living Labs, and provide cities with a tool and an understanding of how to strategically address these barriers.

Regional Innovation Valley for Circular Economy (RIVCircular) - Madrid
Comunidad de Madrid is looking for partners to join a consortium for the first call worth € 60 million linked to the Regional Innovation Valleys initiative: Horizon Europe, Interconnected Innovation Ecosystems (2023.3) (HORIZON-EIE-2023-CONNECT-03), in which about 6 projects are expected to be funded.
Horizon Europe Cluster 6 - Info Day
The Horizon Europe Cluster 6 (Food, Bioeconomy, Natural resources, Agriculture and Environment) Info days about the Work Programme 2024 will be taking place on 27 - 28 September 2023. The aim of this hybrid event is to promote funding opportunities and explain the call topics under the 2024 Work programme. A physical brokerage event will be organised on 26 September 2023 in the Charlemagne building of the European Commission.
Open call for free development assistance for your circular project
DEFINITE-CCRI and CircularInvest are two Horizon Europe projects designed to help circular projects become investment-ready and enhance their chances for success. They currently have a call open for applications until 30 June and organise an info session on 8 June.
Project opportunities for members in the Missions-related calls under Horizon Europe
ERRIN has been actively involved in supporting its members - regions and their R&I ecosystems - in developing successful proposals under the EU Missions calls of the Horizon Europe programme. The Bioeconomy Working Group and Adaptation Task Force organised two informal meetings focused on the Mission Soil and Mission Adaptation calls.
Covenant of Companies for Climate and Energy launch pledging scheme
The Covenant of Companies has launched a brand-new pledging scheme where companies, in making a pledge with our programme, commit to taking action to decarbonise. In return, they offer companies the knowledge and support they need to carry out these measures including a suite of advisory services. The second call for technical assistance is now open and the deadline for submission is 31 August 2023 18:00 CEST
Regional Innovation Valleys calls for proposals launched!
The first Regional Innovation Valleys calls for proposals under the European Innovation Ecosystems (EIE) part of Horizon Europe and under the Interregional Innovation Investments (I3) Instrument of the ERDF were launched by the European Commission on 17 May with an overall budget of EUR 122 million. The closing date for applying is 17 October 2023.

REGIONS2030: Call for expression of interest - deadline extended
The European Commission's Joint Research Centre (JRC) is inviting European regions to express their interest to contribute to the Pilot Project "REGIONS2030: Monitoring the SDGs in the EU regions - Filling the data gaps", supported by the European Parliament. The deadline for submitting an expression of interest is now extended until 10 October 2022.

The Circular Cities and Regions Initiative (CCRI) announced the selection of its 12 Pilots and 25 Fellows – cities, regions and territorial clusters that will lead Europe’s circular economy transition. ERRIN is pleased to see that 22 of them are represented in the ERRIN network.
