Cultural Heritage & Tourism
The Cultural Heritage and Tourism Working Group has two main lines of action: Sustainable Tourism and Cultural Heritage, and the policies and actions that link the two areas. In this context, the WG investigates R&I-related measures to mitigate touristic flows' environmental and social impact and encourage the transition towards sustainable tourism and cultural policies and practices. To this end, the WG supports ERRIN members in the uptake of digital technologies and the development of skills/competences in the Cultural Heritage and Tourism sectors, facilitating exchanges of good practices and developing new projects.
Finally, the Working Group aims to provide early information to members on cultural heritage and tourism policy future strands, financial tools, inter-regional joint activities, EU calls, and disseminating open opportunities and results of key ongoing projects.

Following the Commission's proposal to create a New European Bauhaus Mission, the ERRIN Task Force is organising an event focusing on the bottom-up approaches to NEB. The output of this meeting will be used to develop an ERRIN answer to the ongoing NEB consultations.
ERRIN Culture & Creativity Cluster Project Development Session
The Cultural Heritage & Tourism Working Group is hosting a project development session in collaboration with the Design & Creativity Working Group and the NEB task force, following call for all members and their regional ecosystems to express their interest in the HORIZON Europe calls focusing on culture, creativity and cross-cutting areas such as tourism, circular economy and design.
Matchmaking Event for territories interested to become Regional Innovation Valleys
On 12 September 2023, the Commission is organising an online matchmaking event for territories interested in becoming RIVs. It aims at creating opportunities for participants to meet and connect with a view of responding to the RIVs call for expression interest by 18 September 2023 and/or finding partners for applications to RIVs calls for proposals under Horizon Europe and I3 Instrument by 17 October 2023.
Citizen Science for Environmental Citizenship conference
This conference presents the results of the Horizon2020 EnviroCitizen project, including research into how birding and citizen science can be used to promote environmental citizenship. The event will take place on 30 June from 09:00-15:00.
Stakeholder workshop on the progress of Horizon Europe
The European Commission is organising a stakeholder workshop on the progress of Horizon Europe in the context of the mid-term review. The event will take place online on 29 June from 10:00-13:00 CEST. Participants will be invited to take the floor and share their individual experiences with Horizon Europe up until now. Widening countries are particularly encouraged to take part.
International Conference on Cultural Tourism Advances
The H2020 project Be.CULTOUR is co-organising, together with other 5 EU-funded research and innovation projects, an International Conference on "Cultural Tourism Advances", which will take place in Brussels on the 27-28 June 2023.

Call for participants to the ENCC incubator 2024

Organised in partnership with the City of Glasgow, this programme offers a unique opportunity to share good practices and acquire skills for addressing environmental, digital, and social challenges related to cultural heritage in local contexts.
ERRIN is looking for a Head of projects - Extended Deadline
In view of the upcoming departure of ERRIN's current Director of projects, Ryan Titley, ERRIN is looking for a replacement to start in September 2024. The new colleague will work closely with the ERRIN Director on strategic planning, and lead the implementation and development of ERRIN's current and future project portfolio. Extended deadline: Applications are open until 26 May at 17.00 CEST.
ERRIN members receive the European Heritage Label
On 17 April, the European Heritage Label Bureau and European Commission held the EHL Awards Ceremony 2024, awarding seven new European Heritage Sites with the label. Among them, several ERRIN members have been selected for their symbolic value, the role they have played in European history and the activities they offer.
Second call for participants for Living Spaces peer-learning visits on architecture and the built environment
Living Spaces is a peer-learning programme designed for local and regional authorities to learn how to plan and implement high-quality architectural policies and projects. From July 2023 to November 2024, the programme will facilitate exchanges among the European Union’s cities, regions, Member States and relevant stakeholders on processes and good practices.
Empowering Innovation: Overview of Public Engagement in Research & Innovation
DG RTD has recently released a thematic report titled "Overview of Public Engagement in Research & Innovation", which provides an introductory overview of Public Engagement in Research and Innovation in Europe. The document aims to inspire and help public actors and policymakers to promote and support public engagement.

2023 announced as the European Year of Skills
In her 2022 State of the Union Address, the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen announced the upcoming year as the European Year of Skills. ERRIN welcomes this announcement, as skills are among the priority areas where potential new activities are currently under discussion in the ERRIN Management Board.

Danish cinematic VR experience production company is preparing to apply for Erasmus+ small scale funding and is looking for University/ school/ museum partners to develop learning materials on sustainability through VR experience - a roleplaying STEM game scenario. Hereby, students are motivated to enjoy the learning process instead of being bound and trapped. Results demonstrate an 100% increase in girl motivation for learning STEM subjects

DG GROW Inventory of transferable digital tools and practices for the tourism sector
DG GROW has launched the project “INVENTORY OF TRANSFERABLE DIGITAL APPLICATIONS AND SOLUTIONS FOR THE TOURISM ECOSYSTEM” (Contract Number EASME-2019-OP-0021-015-GROW-IN) that aims to collect information about digital tools and practices used in EU countries that support the tourism sector. The inventory is built on data collected via a public survey open until 30 September.

New members of the EU Missions Boards announced
Yesterday the European Commission announced 75 new top experts who will advise on the five EU Missions through serving on their Boards. ERRIN is thrilled that Françoise Guaspare from Île-de-France Europe, one of the Transport Working Group leaders, will join the Mission Board of the Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities Mission.
