Cultural Heritage & Tourism
The Cultural Heritage and Tourism Working Group has two main lines of action: Sustainable Tourism and Cultural Heritage, and the policies and actions that link the two areas. In this context, the WG investigates R&I-related measures to mitigate touristic flows' environmental and social impact and encourage the transition towards sustainable tourism and cultural policies and practices. To this end, the WG supports ERRIN members in the uptake of digital technologies and the development of skills/competences in the Cultural Heritage and Tourism sectors, facilitating exchanges of good practices and developing new projects.
Finally, the Working Group aims to provide early information to members on cultural heritage and tourism policy future strands, financial tools, inter-regional joint activities, EU calls, and disseminating open opportunities and results of key ongoing projects.

Stakeholder workshop on the progress of Horizon Europe
The European Commission is organising a stakeholder workshop on the progress of Horizon Europe in the context of the mid-term review. The event will take place online on 29 June from 10:00-13:00 CEST. Participants will be invited to take the floor and share their individual experiences with Horizon Europe up until now. Widening countries are particularly encouraged to take part.
International Conference on Cultural Tourism Advances
The H2020 project Be.CULTOUR is co-organising, together with other 5 EU-funded research and innovation projects, an International Conference on "Cultural Tourism Advances", which will take place in Brussels on the 27-28 June 2023.
ERRIN Spring AGM 2023
ERRIN's Spring Annual General Meeting will take place on 22 June from 14:30-17:45 CEST, followed by networking reception. This year the event will be held in-person, with online streaming available for members who aren’t based in Brussels.
NEB in Regions and Cities event
A two-day NEB in Regions and Cities event will take place on 21 and 22 June in Brussels. The event will serve as a forum for learning and exchange among people, institutions, municipalities, and regions who are implementing or have an interest in developing NEB projects on the ground.
EIT Culture & Creativity Moonshot Event
The EIT Culture & Creativity’s Moonshot event, introduced by EU Commissioner Mariya Gabriel, provides an opportunity to establish a long-term and ambitious shared goal for the competitiveness of European CCSIs and their critical role in the future of Europe.

Call for Proposals FLIP (Finance, Learning, Innovation and Patenting) for Cultural and Creative Industries
The 2023 annual work programme for implementing the Creative Europe programme foresees the publication of a call for proposals with €1.05 million allocated to developing an action for cultural and creative sectors and industries. This call builds upon the European Parliament's pilot project results and the preparatory action FLIP (Finance, Learning, Innovation, and Patenting/IPR).
Management Board elections 2023 – results
Following the call for nominations for ERRIN Management Board held between 20 September and 5 October, we are happy to announce the nominated Management Board members. The five nominees will be approved as new Management Board members at the ERRIN Extraordinary General Meeting on 16 November.

Regions taking action to integrate cultural and natural heritage into regional development strategies
The RURITAGE project works alongside rural areas to demonstrate the ways in which natural and cultural heritage can be an engine for regeneration. The project is now convening a Board of Regions, in order to support regions responsible for drafting and updating RIS3 strategies to consider cultural and natural heritage as part of their strategic research and innovation priorities – and thus to tap the enormous value of cultural assets and natural resources.
