Cultural Heritage & Tourism
The Cultural Heritage and Tourism Working Group has two main lines of action: Sustainable Tourism and Cultural Heritage, and the policies and actions that link the two areas. In this context, the WG investigates R&I-related measures to mitigate touristic flows' environmental and social impact and encourage the transition towards sustainable tourism and cultural policies and practices. To this end, the WG supports ERRIN members in the uptake of digital technologies and the development of skills/competences in the Cultural Heritage and Tourism sectors, facilitating exchanges of good practices and developing new projects.
Finally, the Working Group aims to provide early information to members on cultural heritage and tourism policy future strands, financial tools, inter-regional joint activities, EU calls, and disseminating open opportunities and results of key ongoing projects.

Joint ICT and CH&T WG: Understanding the European Data Space for Cultural Heritage and Cloud for Cultural Heritage
The ICT and CH&T WGs invite their members to the next meeting on Understanding the European Data Space for Cultural Heritage [and Cloud for Cultural Heritage TBC]. The meeting aims to provide members with a better understanding of [the Collaborative Cloud for Europe's cultural heritage and] the European data space for cultural heritage. The meeting will take place online on 27 April from 16:00-17:15.
New European Bauhaus Festival
In April 2024, the European Commission organises the second edition of the New European Bauhaus Festival.
VIA QUERINISSIMA: A route from the North to the South of Europe
The event on the Via Querinissima project will be held on 29 March between 10:00 and 11:30 at the European Parliament. Via Querinissima aims to trace the route travelled by Pietro Querini by sea and by land to endorse the values of solidarity and welcome to promote slow, conscious and sustainable, cultural tourism.

ERRIN is looking for a Head of projects - Extended Deadline
In view of the upcoming departure of ERRIN's current Director of projects, Ryan Titley, ERRIN is looking for a replacement to start in September 2024. The new colleague will work closely with the ERRIN Director on strategic planning, and lead the implementation and development of ERRIN's current and future project portfolio. On 17 April, the European Heritage Label Bureau and European Commission held the EHL Awards Ceremony 2024, awarding seven new European Heritage Sites with the label. Among them, several ERRIN members have been selected for their symbolic value, the role they have played in European history and the activities they offer.

Second call for participants for Living Spaces peer-learning visits on architecture and the built environment
Living Spaces is a peer-learning programme designed for local and regional authorities to learn how to plan and implement high-quality architectural policies and projects. From July 2023 to November 2024, the programme will facilitate exchanges among the European Union’s cities, regions, Member States and relevant stakeholders on processes and good practices.

The European Commission has launched new calls for proposals to support research and innovation for its five EU Missions and the New European Bauhaus (NEB). ERRIN encourages all members and their stakeholders to express interest in the EU Missions and NEB calls through the ERRIN Project Development Tool (PDT).
Feedback opportunity for Horizon Europe work programme 2025
The European Commission opened an opportunity to provide input for the development of the Horizon Europe ‘main’ work programme 2025. Submitted responses will contribute to the co-design of the work programme 2025, covering all six clusters, research infrastructures, European innovation ecosystems, the five EU Missions and the New European Bauhaus facility. The deadline for feedback is 6 May 2024 midday, CEST.

Regions taking action to integrate cultural and natural heritage into regional development strategies
The RURITAGE project works alongside rural areas to demonstrate the ways in which natural and cultural heritage can be an engine for regeneration. The project is now convening a Board of Regions, in order to support regions responsible for drafting and updating RIS3 strategies to consider cultural and natural heritage as part of their strategic research and innovation priorities – and thus to tap the enormous value of cultural assets and natural resources.
