Cultural Heritage & Tourism
The Cultural Heritage and Tourism Working Group has two main lines of action: Sustainable Tourism and Cultural Heritage, and the policies and actions that link the two areas. In this context, the WG investigates R&I-related measures to mitigate touristic flows' environmental and social impact and encourage the transition towards sustainable tourism and cultural policies and practices. To this end, the WG supports ERRIN members in the uptake of digital technologies and the development of skills/competences in the Cultural Heritage and Tourism sectors, facilitating exchanges of good practices and developing new projects.
Finally, the Working Group aims to provide early information to members on cultural heritage and tourism policy future strands, financial tools, inter-regional joint activities, EU calls, and disseminating open opportunities and results of key ongoing projects.

Cultural tourism in post-Covid cities
In the framework of Cultural Heritage in Action, project which ERRIN is partner, Eurocities organises a webinar exploring new trends in cultural tourism in cities and regions after the pandemic. The webinar will be held on 03 May 2022 at 10:30 CEST and is the third episode of a series designed to share good practices and insights on a range of topics relevant to cities, regions and cultural heritage stakeholders.

Join the Heritage Hub’s summer peer-learning visit to Glasgow
The European Heritage Hub invites city representatives and heritage professionals to apply for its upcoming peer-learning visit in Glasgow, taking place 8 – 10 July 2024. Organised in partnership with the City of Glasgow, this programme offers a unique opportunity to share good practices and acquire skills for addressing environmental, digital, and social challenges related to cultural heritage in local contexts.

ERRIN is looking for a Head of projects - Extended Deadline
In view of the upcoming departure of ERRIN's current Director of projects, Ryan Titley, ERRIN is looking for a replacement to start in September 2024. The new colleague will work closely with the ERRIN Director on strategic planning, and lead the implementation and development of ERRIN's current and future project portfolio. Extended deadline: Applications are open until 26 May at 17.00 CEST.
ERRIN members receive the European Heritage Label
On 17 April, the European Heritage Label Bureau and European Commission held the EHL Awards Ceremony 2024, awarding seven new European Heritage Sites with the label. Among them, several ERRIN members have been selected for their symbolic value, the role they have played in European history and the activities they offer.

DG RTD has recently released a thematic report titled "Overview of Public Engagement in Research & Innovation", which provides an introductory overview of Public Engagement in Research and Innovation in Europe. The document aims to inspire and help public actors and policymakers to promote and support public engagement.
Second call for participants for Living Spaces peer-learning visits on architecture and the built environment
Living Spaces is a peer-learning programme designed for local and regional authorities to learn how to plan and implement high-quality architectural policies and projects. From July 2023 to November 2024, the programme will facilitate exchanges among the European Union’s cities, regions, Member States and relevant stakeholders on processes and good practices.

ERRIN as a part of a blueprint alliance – the CHARTER project
ERRIN is part of the successful CHARTER consortium led by the University of Barcelona to develop sectoral skills, funded by the Erasmus+ programme. As part of the consortium, ERRIN also involves five members of the Cultural Heritage and Tourism Working Group to take part in the project’s regional activities.

EC Survey on tourism regions in Europe
DG REGIO have contracted a study on “Regional impacts of the COVID-19 crisis on the tourist sector”, the report should be ready end of October. As part of the study, a survey has been launched by the contractor, Spacial Foresight, to collect information on COVID-19 impact, experiences in policy initiatives, and the future needs and opportunities in the tourism sector.
