Cultural Heritage & Tourism
The Cultural Heritage and Tourism Working Group has two main lines of action: Sustainable Tourism and Cultural Heritage, and the policies and actions that link the two areas. In this context, the WG investigates R&I-related measures to mitigate touristic flows' environmental and social impact and encourage the transition towards sustainable tourism and cultural policies and practices. To this end, the WG supports ERRIN members in the uptake of digital technologies and the development of skills/competences in the Cultural Heritage and Tourism sectors, facilitating exchanges of good practices and developing new projects.
Finally, the Working Group aims to provide early information to members on cultural heritage and tourism policy future strands, financial tools, inter-regional joint activities, EU calls, and disseminating open opportunities and results of key ongoing projects.

Stakeholder event on transition pathway for tourism
On 7 February 2023, from 13:15 to 17:30, DG GROW is organising an event to update stakeholders on developments and received pledges related to the tourism transition pathway. The objective is to share information on the tourism ecosystem, as well as on published pledges and commitments to support the Transition Pathway for Tourism co-implementation. It will also serve to introduce the follow-up mechanisms and encourage and advise stakeholders on developing their pledges and joining the Together for EU Tourism community.

The European Heritage Hub launches two new digital tools: Heritage Library and Policy Monitor
The European Heritage Hub is an EU-funded pilot project bringing together heritage stakeholders and initiatives across Europe to support the transition towards a more sustainable, digital and inclusive society. The Hub has recently launched two new digital tools: the Heritage Library and the Policy Monitor. Both are now readily accessible, free of charge, and without registration requirements.

The CrAFt Cookbook: A Recipe for Climate-Positive Cities and Communities
This publication is CrAFt's contribution towards climate-positive cities and communities —less greenhouse gas emissions, better quality, for more people— with local collaboration at the core. The CrAFt Cookbook outlines seven stages for urban transformation inspired by the New European Bauhaus, covering everything from conceptualisation to execution, documentation, and replication. ERRIN members get Saltaire Inspired: Be.CULTOUR study-visit & Local workshop in Saltaire, Bradford
International partners from Be.CULTOUR project community traveled to West Yorkshire from 27 to 30 May to learn more about key events and destinations in the district, including Bradford 2025, exchange successful approaches and build collaborations. The visit was organised in the frame of the peer-learning activities of Be.CULTOUR, where Saltaire Inspired, an arts charity creating contemporary art events in Saltaire Industrial Village, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is one of the 16 mirror ecosystems. Among the visitors, 3 ERRIN members took part in the event, presenting their innovative approaches toward circular cultural tourism and experience as Capitals of Culture: the City of Leeuwarden, APT Basilicata and the City of Savonlinna.

Call for regional and local examples on Circular Cultural Tourism - Breakfast at Sustainability's
ERRIN is collaborating with ICLEI Europe on the upcoming edition of their event series Breakfast at Sustainability’s taking place on 5 October 2023. During the event, ERRIN is looking to showcase two examples of circular tourism and cultural heritage at regional and local level. This online event is organised as part of the Be.CULTOUR project.

Exchange of experience on financing the cultural sector
The cultural sector in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes is looking to analyse how other regions have adapted after covid and ongoing economic issues. They are looking for examples relating to funding and eco-responsible solutions that have been adopted in other regions. After collating, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes will share the results with participants.

Regional Innovation Valleys calls for proposals launched!
The first Regional Innovation Valleys calls for proposals under the European Innovation Ecosystems (EIE) part of Horizon Europe and under the Interregional Innovation Investments (I3) Instrument of the ERDF were launched by the European Commission on 17 May with an overall budget of EUR 122 million. The closing date for applying is 17 October 2023.
