Design & Creativity

The Design & Creativity WG aims to raise awareness of design and creativity as tools and drivers for innovation in different sectors and across Europe. Our objectives are the following: To present challenges; especially in relation to sectors that do not yet work with design (thinking) and creativity; to showcase the importance of design & creativity through good examples and concrete cases; to create a strong and vital community among our stakeholders across Europe through a bottom-up approach; to connect designers, thinkers, business, policy and society interested in finding common solutions for different challenges and to create opportunities for the WG members to develop project proposals, share their ideas, stories and ongoing activities with the EU community.

EWRC side event: Skills reform & partnerships for SMART CCI

The EWRC side event, co-organised with RICC (Regional Initiative for Culture and Creativity), will look into how collaboration and partnership-building is being supported by EU policies and programmes relevant for CCIS. The issues of skill reform will be at the heart of the discussion, looking at new EU initiatives such as the EIT Knowledge and Innovation Community (KIC) on CCIs, the newly launched S3 Partnership on Cultural and Creative Regional Ecosystems – CCRE S3, the Blueprint for sectoral cooperation on skills in Cultural Heritage, and the regional ecosystem potential.

EWRC session: Governing local heritage together

Cultural Heritage in Action is the new EU-funded peer-learning scheme on cultural heritage for cities and regions and is implemented by the workshop co-organisers Cultural Heritage in Action. The workshop will explore how cities and regions foster participatory governance and civic engagement in cultural heritage, based on lessons learned from the Cultural Heritage in Action project.

This session will explore Cultural and Creative Regional Ecosystems (CCRE-S3) - a new thematic area under the S3 Platform for Industrial Modernisation, which aims to stimulate industry growth through the implementation of new technologies in the sector.

In its new report, "Forecast to fill gaps in Heritage Education and Training", the CHARTER EU Alliance delves into the gaps and needs of Cultural Heritage professionals in Europe. This report maps the main challenges for professional development in heritage, encompassing technology, sustainable development, professional collaboration, public administration, diversity, funding, social uses, knowledge transfer, occupation coding, and skills description.

ERRIN is looking for a Head of projects - Extended Deadline

In view of the upcoming departure of ERRIN's current Director of projects, Ryan Titley, ERRIN is looking for a replacement to start in September 2024. The new colleague will work closely with the ERRIN Director on strategic planning, and lead the implementation and development of ERRIN's current and future project portfolio. Extended deadline: Applications are open until 26 May at 17.00 CEST.

Second call for participants for Living Spaces peer-learning visits on architecture and the built environment

Living Spaces is a peer-learning programme designed for local and regional authorities to learn how to plan and implement high-quality architectural policies and projects. From July 2023 to November 2024, the programme will facilitate exchanges among the European Union’s cities, regions, Member States and relevant stakeholders on processes and good practices.

Empowering Innovation: Overview of Public Engagement in Research & Innovation

DG RTD has recently released a thematic report titled "Overview of Public Engagement in Research & Innovation", which provides an introductory overview of Public Engagement in Research and Innovation in Europe. The document aims to inspire and help public actors and policymakers to promote and support public engagement.

European Research and Innovation Days (R&I Days) 2024

The R&I Days 2024 will give you the opportunity to debate how we can make Europe more sustainable and competitive and will celebrate the outcomes and achievements in research and innovation since the launch of the first R&I Framework Programme over 40 years ago.
