ERRIN’s Health Working Group (WG) supports members with early intelligence and regular updates about EU-level health policy-related issues, regulations, EU programmes and their funding opportunities. Creating opportunities for interregional cooperation in the Health area is one of the WG’s main objectives. The WG is also a vehicle for networking, profile raising and promoting good practices and projects among health stakeholders in the ERRIN regions.

On 12 February 2026, the Circular Cities and Regions Initiative (CCRI), is organising an hybrid multi-stakeholder dialogue in view of collecting inputs for the Circular Economy Act which is expected to be published in the third quarter of 2026. During this dialogue, cities and regions will have the unique opportunity to provide their feedback on the policy recommendations the CCRI is proposing for supporting the circular transition locally. On Friday 6 February at 11:00, ERRIN is organising an online info session for its members and regional stakeholders on the effective use of the ERRIN Project Development Tool (PDT). With the 2026 Horizon Europe calls already available on the PDT, this is a particularly timely opportunity to familiarise yourself with the tool and strengthen your project development activities. The session will also play an important role in preparing participants for upcoming project development sessions organised by ERRIN.

Following the call for nominations for ERRIN Management Board held between 3 and 17 October, we are happy to announce the nominated Management Board members. The three nominees will be approved as new Management Board members at the ERRIN Autumn General Meeting on 10 December.
In November, ERRIN submitted three input papers to the European Commission on the next Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) 2028–2034 proposals, covering the future Horizon Europe, the European Competitiveness Fund and National and Regional Partnership Plans. ERRIN’s key message is that the next MFF must deliver a coherent, place-based and innovation-driven framework where these programmes work in synergy to strengthen territorial innovation ecosystems and support societal transformation.
The European Committee of the Regions has opened the call for applications for the European Entrepreneurial Region (EER) 2027 Award. The EER label is awarded every two years to three cities or regions with outstanding, future-oriented strategies to support SMEs, start-ups and scale-ups. The 2027 edition introduces the Forum of the European Entrepreneurial Regions, which will help regions strengthen their entrepreneurial ecosystems, exchange good practices and engage with the European Commission on key policy developments. On 24 October, ERRIN submitted its contribution to the European Commission’s consultation on the assessment of citizens and stakeholders’ engagement in the EU Missions. The consultation, led by the EFIS Centre in partnership with Technopolis Group on behalf of DG RTD (European Commission), aimed to gather feedback from key stakeholders across Europe to inform the 2026 Assessment of EU Missions.
The 23rd European Week of Regions and Cities (EWRC) brought together over 6,000 participants in Brussels under the motto Shaping Tomorrow, Together. As the largest annual event on EU Cohesion Policy, it provided a platform for cities and regions to exchange ideas on sustainable development, innovation and inclusiveness. ERRIN and its members were actively engaged throughout the week, contributing to and supporting several sessions that highlighted the importance of strong and connected regional innovation ecosystems.
ERRIN invites its members – regional and local authorities, research and innovation organisations, higher education institutions, etc. – to contribute to the 2026 Assessment of EU Missions by completing a short survey open until 31 October 2025.
ERRIN will suggest amendments to the proposed Horizon Europe and European Competitiveness Fund regulations based on our input documents. ERRIN members are warmly invited to add your comments and suggest additional amendments. We welcome your contributions as soon as possible and at the latest by 23 January as the work on both proposals are moving fast.

INBENTUS has already experience leading and managing European Funding. We have been recently awarded with a EUROSTAR Grant and we are participating and leading other national and regional grants related with I+D.
Ștefan cel Mare University of Suceava (USV) is looking to join an already established consortium or to co-create a new one, in view of a Horizon Europe proposal focused on EU-level standards for AI benchmarking, reproducibility and algorithmic auditing in biotechnology and genomics, building on USV’s experience in bioeconomy, genomic sequencing, wastewater-based surveillance and applied bioinformatics.
The ERRIN Health Working Group is seeking a new Brussels-based co-leader to help steer its 2026 agenda (and beyond) alongside existing leaders. The new co-leader will help organise meetings, support project development, follow policy developments and represent the Working Group at events, with expressions of interest due by 26 January 2026.

On 10 December, ERRIN members gathered in Brussels for the network’s Autumn General Meeting. The meeting provided an opportunity to reflect on a year marked by network growth, increased policy engagement and evolving EU priorities, while looking ahead to 2026 and the post-2027 R&I landscape. ERRIN warmly thanks Scotland Europa for hosting the meeting and all members for their active engagement throughout 2025, as the network continues to strengthen the role of regional stakeholders in EU research and innovation policy.
