ERRIN’s Health Working Group (WG) supports members with early intelligence and regular updates about EU-level health policy-related issues, regulations, EU programmes and their funding opportunities. Creating opportunities for interregional cooperation in the Health area is one of the WG’s main objectives. The WG is also a vehicle for networking, profile raising and promoting good practices and projects among health stakeholders in the ERRIN regions.
This first session of the year will offer an opportunity for all ERRIN members of the Health Working Group to come together to network and jointly kick off the activities for 2026. Marta Moya

The European Commission, in cooperation with the Research Executive Agency and the European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency, organises an info day to inform interested applicants about the calls under the Destination “Widening participation and spreading excellence” of the WIDERA Work Programme 2026-27 adopted on 11 December 2025. The info day will take place online on January 22 at 09.30 CET.
The European Commission will host the EU Missions Info Days on 20-21 January 2026, offering potential applicants an overview of the new 2026 call topics featured in the EU Missions Work Programme 2026–2027 under Horizon Europe. The event will be followed by a brokerage event on 28-29 January.
EURASHE and ERRIN's Science and Education For Society Working Group are co-organising on 15-16 January a 'Project Matchmaking and Training Lab: 2026 Erasmus+ and 2026-2027 Horizon Europe' in Brussels. Bringing together funding experts of regional authorities and higher education practitioners, this training lab offers a unique combination of capacity building, inspiration and networking. Participation is reserved for EURASHE and ERRIN members only and registrations are now open.
Organised by IRCCS IRST, with the support of the Emilia-Romagna Region, the event will bring together European experts, policymakers, regional authorities and stakeholders to explore how scientific evidence in precision oncology and digital health can better inform European policies and implementation strategies.
On 16 December 2025, NCP4Missions will host an online workshop exploring how EU Missions and Horizon Europe Clusters translate policy into real local and regional impact. The event will showcase examples from all five Missions and related Cluster projects. ERRIN will contribute by highlighting its ongoing work supporting members engaged in the Missions. The deadline for registration has been extended to 14 December 2025.

On 10 December, ERRIN members gathered in Brussels for the network’s Autumn General Meeting. The meeting provided an opportunity to reflect on a year marked by network growth, increased policy engagement and evolving EU priorities, while looking ahead to 2026 and the post-2027 R&I landscape. ERRIN warmly thanks Scotland Europa for hosting the meeting and all members for their active engagement throughout 2025, as the network continues to strengthen the role of regional stakeholders in EU research and innovation policy.
On 3 December 2025, ERRIN took part in the European Partnership Stakeholder Forum in Brussels, jointly organised by ERA-LEARN and the European Commission. The event brought together the European Partnerships community to discuss the future of Partnerships under the next Framework Programme, Horizon Europe FP10 (2028–2034). The European Commission has adopted the 2026 and 2027 Horizon Europe Work Programmes, outlining €14 billion in funding for research and innovation projects across the EU. The calls are now available also on ERRIN’s Project Development Tool. We invite ERRIN members and interested organisations to navigate the tool, express interest, search for project coordinators and seek partners.

The ERRIN Health Working Group is seeking a new Brussels-based co-leader to help steer its 2026 agenda (and beyond) alongside existing leaders. The new co-leader will help organise meetings, support project development, follow policy developments and represent the Working Group at events, with expressions of interest due by 26 January 2026.
