Smart Cities
The objective of the Working Group is to act as a platform to offer early information on priorities and funding opportunities linked to Smart Cities, with a focus on the EU Mission on 100 climate-neutral and smart cities by 2030. The WG aims to facilitate sharing of experiences and support matchmaking to develop new partnerships and projects. The WG targets the smart city topic from an integrated and holistic approach, addressing issues such as citizen engagement, data-driven policy and smart governance models, while exploring synergies between the areas linked to smart cities as addressed by the ERRIN WGs on Energy and Climate Change, Transport and ICT.

The 1st European Mission Forum will take place as an online event on 25 January 2023.
Adaptation Task Force meeting
The first meeting of the ERRIN Adaptation Task Force will take place on 24 January (10:00-11:00) at the ERRIN premises. During the meeting, we will present the two new ERRIN projects linked to the Adaptation Mission: RESIST and PEERS. We will also discuss the next steps for the Mission itself in view of the launch event of the Community of Practice.

On 17 and 18 January, the European Commission is organising the info days dedicated to EU Missions calls 2023.
OASC Connected Smart and Sustainable Cities and Communities Conference
OASC is organising the Connected Smart and Sustainable Cities and Communities Conference in Brussels on 17-18 January. Connected Smart and Sustainable Cities and Communities (CSSCC) is an annual event to bring the community of OASC members and partners together – an event that is open for all to join.
Open Living-in.EU Supporters meeting
The next online meeting with the supporters of the Living-in.EU movement will take place on 20 December from 13:30 to 14:30 CET. The meeting will aim to engage you into the work the Living-in.EU movement is conducting on data platforms, data spaces and Digital Twins for smart and sustainable cities and communities as well as to inform you about ongoing and upcoming funding opportunities.
Horizon Europe - Cluster 6 Calls 2023 - virtual Brokerage Event
The network of National Contact Points for Cluster 6, CARE4BIO, invites you to participate in the virtual networking event for the forthcoming 2023 calls in Horizon Europe - Cluster 6: Food, Bioeconomy, Natural Resources, Agriculture and Environment. The brokerage event will take place on 19 December.

Letter on Cities' Concerns: Mission on Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities

Handbook on implementation and adoption barriers of urban living labs developing nature-based solutions
Developing Urban Living Labs is a relatively novel approach in urban areas, and consequently, there are many challenges and barriers that cities face during ULL adoption. This handbook, developed by the UNaLab project, aims to identify and explore some common barriers to the adoption of Urban Living Labs, and provide cities with a tool and an understanding of how to strategically address these barriers.

Management Board elections 2023 – results
Following the call for nominations for ERRIN Management Board held between 20 September and 5 October, we are happy to announce the nominated Management Board members. The five nominees will be approved as new Management Board members at the ERRIN Extraordinary General Meeting on 16 November.
Release of LORDIMAS, a digital maturity assessment tool for Regions and Cities
During the European Week of Regions and Cities 2023, a dedicated session was organised to launch LORDIMAS, a digital maturity assessment helping local and regional governments to understand where they are in their digital transformation journey. The tool is now accessible online.
ERRIN at the EWRC 2023
The European Week of Cities and Regions (EWRC) has come to an end. This year’s edition has been particularly rich in ERRIN’s involvement, with the Secretariat co-organising four events, promoting projects, and the Working Group Leaders participating in several panel discussions.
Ten European cities awarded with the EU Mission Cities Label
On 12 October, the European Commission awarded the first ten European cities with the Label of ‘EU Mission Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities’ for their plans to achieve climate-neutrality by 2030. The EU Mission Label symbolises a crucial milestone, not only recognising the comprehensive plans of these cities to achieve climate neutrality by 2030 but also serves as a catalyst for facilitating access to both public and private funding to support these ambitious goals.
Multi-stakeholder engagement showcases the path to climate neutrality at European Week of Regions and Cities
On 10 October, a collaborative and interactive event was jointly hosted by ERRIN, MOSAIC and the European Commission during the European Week of Regions and Cities. This session brought together experts and stakeholders from across Europe to explore the significant role of multi-stakeholder engagement in advancing the journey towards climate neutrality for European cities.
Shape ERRIN's agenda 2024 - Annual Member Survey
In view of the annual strategy workshops that we will organise with all the Working Group (WG) and Task Force (TF) leaders in the second half of November, all members are invited to provide input on priorities, topics, and activities that should be addressed in 2024. The input can be provided by 31 October 2023.

NetZeroCities Call for Pilot Cities
The NetZeroCities project, in which ERRIN is a partner, has opened a second Call for Pilot Cities. Mission Cities which are not yet part of the Pilot Cities Programme can apply to test and implement innovative approaches towards rapid decarbonisation. The Call for Pilot Cities is open until 6 November 2023 17.00 CET.

ERRIN Extraordinary General Meeting on 16 November 2023 – important announcement for members
All ERRIN members are invited to save the date for the ERRIN Extraordinary General Meeting, which will take place on 16 November 2023 in the ERRIN premises. The meeting is organised to make the necessary changes to the ERRIN Articles of Association and a minimum of 2/3 of the ERRIN members must be represented. Therefore, the engagement of each member is of key importance (participation is possible online for associate members).

Blue Economy WG: Call for regional examples on water-related nature-based solutions
The Blue Economy Working Group is looking for regional examples of water-related nature-based solutions for climate change, to be presented in its upcoming meeting ‘Water issues in the era of climate change’.
