2020 EU budget: increased funds for R&I

The EU has agreed the budget for 2020, which includes an increase in funds for research and innovation.

Online consultation on Digital Europe Programme

The European Commission has opened a consultation on the draft Orientation of the first two years of its proposed Digital Europe programme. Inputs received through the consultation will help the Commission finalise the Orientations for Digital Europe. These will then shape the work programmes and calls for proposals for the programme’s first two years (2021-2022).

ERRIN Members Helsinki and Lyon awarded the title of European Capital of Smart Tourism 2019

Congratulations to the ERRIN Members Helsinki and Lyon (Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes) for receiving the title of European Capital of Smart Tourism 2019! Helsinki ranked second at the Accessible City Awards in 2015 and its smart public transport system enjoyed a rise in user satisfaction over the last two years. In addition, Helsinki has become a hotbed of software innovation, thanks to its open approach to public data, available free for all since 2009. Lyon won several accolades for accessibility, including the 2017 Access City Award.

The European Commission launches the European Digital Skills Awards 2018

The European Commission wants to put the spotlight on projects which contribute to the development of digital skills in Europe. The Awards will be presented by Mariya Gabriel, European Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society on 6 December 2018.

EnergyScaleUp call for application (Deadline: 10 October)

Arnhem and InnoEnergy have teamed up to launch EnergyScaleUp, a joint initiative that will provide the most relevant support to the best scale-ups out there. Combining an international network with a strong energy focused home base will set you up for boosting your business. The EnergyScaleUp partners provide tailored support for teams on different stages and with different needs. They will not require an equity stake, but they will agree upon a return for their investment.

PROSPECT learning programme on innovative financing

PROSPECT aims to encourage the exchange of knowledge and experience on innovative financing schemes used to implement sustainable energy and climate plans, especially within the framework of the Covenant of Mayors. By innovative financing schemes, PROSPECT refers to non-traditional ways of raising funds and facilitating sustainable energy and climate investments by mixing different sources (own fund, public and private funds) or engaging different partners (e.g. citizens, private sector) outside of established financial institutions (e.g. banks).
