Cultural Heritage & Tourism
The Cultural Heritage and Tourism Working Group has two main lines of action: Sustainable Tourism and Cultural Heritage, and the policies and actions that link the two areas. In this context, the WG investigates R&I-related measures to mitigate touristic flows' environmental and social impact and encourage the transition towards sustainable tourism and cultural policies and practices. To this end, the WG supports ERRIN members in the uptake of digital technologies and the development of skills/competences in the Cultural Heritage and Tourism sectors, facilitating exchanges of good practices and developing new projects.
Finally, the Working Group aims to provide early information to members on cultural heritage and tourism policy future strands, financial tools, inter-regional joint activities, EU calls, and disseminating open opportunities and results of key ongoing projects.

Smart Tourism Destinations Project - Webinar #2
Smart Tourism Destinations is a European Commission initiative to support EU cities to facilitate access to tourism and hospitality products and services through technological innovation. The initiative is hosting a series of webinars addressing a range of topics related to innovative digital solutions for tourism. the next one will take place on 17 November and will focus on the deployment of data management and technological solutions for innovation in smart destinations.
Education for Climate Days
The Education for Climate Days 2022 will happen from the 7th to 9th of November this year. Under the theme of "co-creating learning for climate resilience", each day will focus on one key Education for Climate issue.
Brussels Talks: How to be an innovative region in Europe?
As part of the event series Brussels Talks, NCBR – Business & Science Poland are organising the online event 'How to be an innovative region in Europe?', with ERRIN director Pirita Lindholm as the main speaker. The event will discuss regional innovations ecosystems, how to support R&I capacities at local and regional level and how to reduce the innovation divide. Furthermore, the support offered by current EU funded programmes and initiatives will be explored.
Translating EU Missions into regional policy
The TRAMI project and ERRIN are organising a mutual learning event on 18 October. The event will aim to showcase a successful translation of the EU Missions approach into concrete policies and tools on the regional level and to foster the discussion on challenges and opportunities with its implementation.

ERRIN is looking for a Head of projects - Extended Deadline
In view of the upcoming departure of ERRIN's current Director of projects, Ryan Titley, ERRIN is looking for a replacement to start in September 2024. The new colleague will work closely with the ERRIN Director on strategic planning, and lead the implementation and development of ERRIN's current and future project portfolio. Among them, several ERRIN members have been selected for their symbolic value, the role they have played in European history and the activities they offer.

Second call for participants for Living Spaces peer-learning visits on architecture and the built environment
Living Spaces is a peer-learning programme designed for local and regional authorities to learn how to plan and implement high-quality architectural policies and projects. From July 2023 to November 2024, the programme will facilitate exchanges among the European Union’s cities, regions, Member States and relevant stakeholders on processes and good practices.

The European Commission has launched new calls for proposals to support research and innovation for its five EU Missions and the New European Bauhaus (NEB). ERRIN encourages all members and their stakeholders to express interest in the EU Missions and NEB calls through the ERRIN Project Development Tool (PDT).
Feedback opportunity for Horizon Europe work programme 2025
The European Commission opened an opportunity to provide input for the development of the Horizon Europe ‘main’ work programme 2025. Submitted responses will contribute to the co-design of the work programme 2025, covering all six clusters, research infrastructures, European innovation ecosystems, the five EU Missions and the New European Bauhaus facility. The deadline for feedback is 6 May 2024 midday, CEST.

On 26th May, the Cultural Heritage and Tourism Working Group hosted a webinar on the European tourism sector in the post-COVID-19 crisis context, aimed at exchanging views and regional best practices for recovery strategies, providing members with information on the tools and policies that are being developed by the European Commission, and discussing joint actions coordinated by European networks to raise awareness and increased support for the sector.
