Energy & Climate Change
The main objective of the Energy & Climate Change Working Group is to act as a platform to discuss and share information on energy-related policies and funding programmes, especially looking at the Green Deal and REPowerEU, the Green Industrial Plan, the Hydrogen Valleys, the energy storage and batteries (with reference to S3 Partnership on batteries) and Horizon Europe.
The priority areas also feature climate change issues (such as climate adaptation), nature-based solutions and natural resources. The WG is set to explore links and synergies with other areas in which energy and climate change play central role and cooperate with other ERRIN Working Groups, namely the Transport, Smart Cities, SEFS and S3 Working Groups, as well as the ERRIN Task Forces on climate adaptation and on the New European Bauhaus.

Urban and sustainable water solutions: tackling key challenges in the Nordic capital regions
The Nordic capital regions of Copenhagen, Helsinki, Oslo and Stockholm are hosting a EU Green Week partner event on urban sustainable water solutions on 30 May from 10:00-12:00 at Rue Guimard 7, 1040 Brussels. The impact of climate change, pollution and challenges of management has put pressure on water resources all around Europe and is affecting the way of life for citizens. Living Labs in EU Missions and Partnerships
ENoLL, the European Network of Living Labs, will hold an event on 'Living Labs in EU Missions and Partnerships', featuring expert speakers from the European Commission and successful Living Lab projects, to explore collaboration and synergies between Living Labs, innovation ecosystems connecting different stakeholders, and other EU initiatives, namely the EU Missions. The RESIST project - testing adaptation solutions to key climate challenges
The RESIST project, launched last week, is a five-year EU-funded project coordinated by SINTEF in collaboration with INOVA+, which will support twelve regions across the EU in their efforts to build resilience against the impacts of climate change. ERRIN’s role in the project is to develop a Community of Practice and identify needs for a mutual-learning scheme. Following this, ERRIN will link LSD/Twinning regions with the wider Community of Interest.
Management Board elections 2022 – results
Between 3 and 17 October, ERRIN members could put forward their candidatures for this year’s ERRIN Management Board elections. Five new Management Board members were selected and approved at the Autumn Annual General Meeting on 8 December.

The Horizon Europe work programme 2023-24 has been adopted by the European Commission.
NEB funding opportunities for 2023 and 2024 published
The New European Bauhaus (NEB) initiative is supported by a combination of different EU financing instruments. The overview of the available support for the years 2023-2024 has been just updated on the NEB website.
Call for local partners - SHARED GREEN DEAL project
SHARED GREEN DEAL project is offering local authorities, regional authorities and not-for-profit organisations the opportunity to apply for a €22,000 grant to implement local actions focussing on the behavioural, social and cultural dimensions of the European Green Deal. Deadline for applications is 31 January 2023.
New European Innovation Agenda: Council conclusions adopted
On 2 December, the Council adopted the conclusions on the New European Innovation Agenda. We have collected some key points highlighted by the Council and ERRIN remarks on the document. The CoR opinion on the same topic, to which ERRIN provided comments, was also adopted on 1 December.

Express interest in joining Adaptation Mission & signing Charter
Regions and communities are now invited by the European Commission to complete a survey expressing their interest in joining the Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change. After survey responses have been reviewed, eligible regions will be invited to sign the Mission Charter.

Looking for pre-schools and kindergardens working with science education through nature play
With climate change in mind, it is important that children have the desire to be in nature and experience it as an extended part of them. This extension must make up for the frightening images and bad thoughts about the future and the destruction of nature. The theater will stage nature / local areas so that discoveries in nature become something where there is an interaction between children and nature. We believe that children invent new ways to appreciate nature. The children's imagination in these performances or setups will strengthen their empathy for each other and nature, simply because of being in nature with each other. The project will uncover how science can be learned to pre-school/kindergarten children through nature play/outdoor learning with a focus on climate change.

Outcomes of the joint meeting with the European Commission on the Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change
On 22 February, ERRIN organised a joint meeting with the European Commission on the Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change to discuss regions' challenges and needs in terms of climate adaptation and priority actions for the Mission in the coming years. Following the meeting, we now welcome members' views on the Mission Charter that is to be introduced by the Commission in the coming weeks.
