ERRIN’s Health Working Group (WG) supports members with early intelligence and regular updates about EU-level health policy-related issues, regulations, EU programmes and their funding opportunities. Creating opportunities for interregional cooperation in the Health area is one of the WG’s main objectives. Cardiff Metropolitan University is organising an International Symposium on Adolescent Organised Leisure on 22 June in Cardiff.
This event will focus on an innovative model of the biomolecular laboratory of Calcinate (Bergamo). The extraordinary performance achieved by this laboratory, coupled with the extreme flexibility to deal with the wide set of virus or genetic based diseases, the reduced need of sanitary staff and the low operating costs, make it one of the few positive legacies of the recent pandemic for today's and tomorrow's healthcare systems. On 20 June 2023, the European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA) is organising a hybrid event on Synergies across the EU Funding Programmes managed by the European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA) in collaboration with the networks of Horizon Europe National Contact Points for Cluster 1, and Cluster 4 and the network of the EU4Health National Focal Points. The Permanent Representation of Lithuania to the European Union, Culture Action Europe and RED NOSES International are hosting an event as part of the current EU projects “Culture for Health” and “Clowning Connects Us” titled: Culture and Mental Health - Practices and Policies. Through examples from the field and a panel discussion with decision-makers, the event offers the opportunity to discuss how we can make better use of and systematically include cultural approaches in our health and social care systems.

The Eu Cancer Mission project ONCODIR is organising a survey to consolidate its research work on the primary prevention of colorectal cancer. The survey is intended for citizens, clinicians and policymakers, and will expire on 31 July. It is a multiple-choice questionary and will take between 5-10 minutes to complete.
ERRIN is pleased to launch a series of input papers on the 10th Framework Programme, with this paper focusing on EU Missions. ERRIN has been closely involved in the design and implementation of the EU Missions since their inception, making them a priority for the network. This input paper on the role of EU Missions in FP10 has been created with contributions from ERRIN members and their ecosystems.
The REINFORCING project has opened a call to support organisations and territories that actively contribute to the EU Missions by engaging relevant stakeholders, including citizens, in the R&I process and/or policies connected to one of the Missions. Successful proposals will receive up to 60,000 euros to implement a 12-month project. The deadline for submitting proposals is 26 September 2024.
ERRIN is pleased to share a two-pager for the incoming European decision-makers, aiming to present the network and our value to the new MEPs, raising a voice for the importance of place-based R&I in the changing landscape. We encourage all ERRIN members to share the document with their MEPs to introduce ERRIN and the value of place-based R&I.
On 19 June, the Commission announced the 151 regions identified as Regional Innovation Valleys following the call for EoI and calls for proposals in 2023. 75 successful regions come from ERRIN members. RIVs will aim to strengthen the regional innovation ecosystems, bridge the innovation gap and improve Europe's overall innovation performance. New calls for proposals under Horizon Europe are expected in 2025.
As the work towards the next EU Framework Programme for R&I (FP10) continues, ERRIN is pleased to share its two-page input for the attention of the Expert Group on the interim evaluation of Horizon Europe. The document is a concise compilation of the reflections on FP10 done at ERRIN so far, highlighting topics of key importance. Work on a series of broader input papers is underway.

This year, nine EU regions, of who six are ERRIN members, joined forces with the aim to improve active and healthy ageing through the ITHACA project (Interreg Europe programme). The project looks at each region’s policy efforts and scale-up practices of innovative solutions in order to find points of improvement.
ERRIN is looking for ‘mirror regions’ for the recently launched European project inDemand. InDemand is a new model where healthcare organisations and companies co-create digital health solutions, with the economic support of public regional funds. Why is this model innovative? inDemand applies at the same time demand-driven and co-creation approaches.
The WE4AHA Project is now launching its first communication campaign! The topic of the campaign is the Public Consultation entitled “Transformation of Health and Care in the Digital Single Market”, which was recently launched by the European Commission.
