Cultural Heritage & Tourism
The Cultural Heritage and Tourism Working Group has two main lines of action: Sustainable Tourism and Cultural Heritage, and the policies and actions that link the two areas. In this context, the WG investigates R&I-related measures to mitigate touristic flows' environmental and social impact and encourage the transition towards sustainable tourism and cultural policies and practices. To this end, the WG supports ERRIN members in the uptake of digital technologies and the development of skills/competences in the Cultural Heritage and Tourism sectors, facilitating exchanges of good practices and developing new projects.
Finally, the Working Group aims to provide early information to members on cultural heritage and tourism policy future strands, financial tools, inter-regional joint activities, EU calls, and disseminating open opportunities and results of key ongoing projects.

PROSPERO – Culture and Creativity driving prosperous development
the PROSPERO proposal seeks to put CCIs at the centre of sustainable and dynamic economic development, thus boosting our socio-economic and environmental well-being. PROSPERO uses interregional exchange and learning to consider how megatrends (digitalisation, climate action, social resilience) are reflected in the CCI sector across Europe and how public policy can ensure that we benefit from these megatrends.

In its new report, "Forecast to fill gaps in Heritage Education and Training", the CHARTER EU Alliance delves into the gaps and needs of Cultural Heritage professionals in Europe. ERRIN as a part of a blueprint alliance – the CHARTER project
ERRIN is part of the successful CHARTER consortium led by the University of Barcelona to develop sectoral skills, funded by the Erasmus+ programme. As part of the consortium, ERRIN also involves five members of the Cultural Heritage and Tourism Working Group to take part in the project’s regional activities.

EC Survey on tourism regions in Europe
DG REGIO have contracted a study on “Regional impacts of the COVID-19 crisis on the tourist sector”, the report should be ready end of October. As part of the study, a survey has been launched by the contractor, Spacial Foresight, to collect information on COVID-19 impact, experiences in policy initiatives, and the future needs and opportunities in the tourism sector.
