Cultural Heritage & Tourism
The Cultural Heritage and Tourism Working Group has two main lines of action: Sustainable Tourism and Cultural Heritage, and the policies and actions that link the two areas. In this context, the WG investigates R&I-related measures to mitigate touristic flows' environmental and social impact and encourage the transition towards sustainable tourism and cultural policies and practices. To this end, the WG supports ERRIN members in the uptake of digital technologies and the development of skills/competences in the Cultural Heritage and Tourism sectors, facilitating exchanges of good practices and developing new projects.
Finally, the Working Group aims to provide early information to members on cultural heritage and tourism policy future strands, financial tools, inter-regional joint activities, EU calls, and disseminating open opportunities and results of key ongoing projects.

Cultural tourism in post-Covid cities
In the framework of Cultural Heritage in Action, project which ERRIN is partner, Eurocities organises a webinar exploring new trends in cultural tourism in cities and regions after the pandemic. The webinar will be held on 03 May 2022 at 10:30 CEST and is the third episode of a series designed to share good practices and insights on a range of topics relevant to cities, regions and cultural heritage stakeholders.

The European Capital of Innovation Awards
In 2024, the European Innovation Council is celebrating the 10th anniversary of the European Capital of Innovation Awards. The competition rewards those European cities that are courageous enough to open their governance practices to experimentation and push the boundaries of technology for the benefit of their citizens. In addition to the monetary reward, the prize brings high visibility in the form of renewed public interest and increased media coverage. The deadline for submission is 18 June 2024, 17:00.
The EU has launched a survey on sustainable and resilient future for EU tourism
All local and regional DMOs are invited to take part in the survey launched by the EU in the frame of the project “Sustainable EU Tourism – Shaping the Tourism of Tomorrow” until 31 May. In addition to sharing your valuable experience, regions will also have the chance to connect with fellow European DMOs.

Interreg Europe's 3rd call for proposals, launched on 20 March, supports interregional cooperation projects addressing common regional development challenges. Organisations can use the ERRIN Project Development tool to express interest and find partners. The call is open until 7 June 2024.
ERRIN joins the NEB Alliance as a founding member
On 26 February 2024, the New European Bauhaus Alliance introduced its Manifesto in Amsterdam. This Manifesto aims to help society move towards strong, climate-positive cities and communities. It wants to bring together people from different fields like engineering, economics, facility management, marine biology, industry, artificial intelligence, and others.
EU Research Champions Sustainable Cultural Tourism
As one of the eight Horizon 2020 research projects included in the latest CORDIS Results Pack, ERRIN's Be.CULTOUR project features as a good practice to promote sustainable cultural tourism. The results showcase how working with local communities and cultural heritage leads to better conservation practices and authentic visitor experiences while boosting local economies. CORDIS, the EU's research results platform, disseminates findings from EU-funded research to drive innovation across multiple sectors.

On 26th May, the Cultural Heritage and Tourism Working Group hosted a webinar on the European tourism sector in the post-COVID-19 crisis context, aimed at exchanging views and regional best practices for recovery strategies, providing members with information on the tools and policies that are being developed by the European Commission, and discussing joint actions coordinated by European networks to raise awareness and increased support for the sector.
