Smart Cities
The objective of the Working Group is to act as a platform to offer early information on priorities and funding opportunities linked to Smart Cities, with a focus on the EU Mission on 100 climate-neutral and smart cities by 2030. The WG aims to facilitate sharing of experiences and support matchmaking to develop new partnerships and projects. The WG targets the smart city topic from an integrated and holistic approach, addressing issues such as citizen engagement, data-driven policy and smart governance models, while exploring synergies between the areas linked to smart cities as addressed by the ERRIN WGs on Energy and Climate Change, Transport and ICT.

Territories as leaders in responsible research and innovation
The Responsible Research and Innovation in Territories Leaders (RRI-LEADERS) project is holding its final policy conference on 19 October from 08:30-20:30 in Brussels. It will bring together participants from across Europe to explore the diverse experience of European territories in integrating Responsible Research and Innovation in territorial policymaking.

On 11 October (9:30 to 16:30), the 5G for Smart Communities Support Platform is organising the 5GSC Community Conference in Brussels, bringing together key stakeholders, including mobile network operators, alternative operators, equipment manufacturers, and public authorities, to foster a dynamic exchange of ideas, insights and best practices.
EWRC: From reactive to proactive cities on citizens' terms
The cities of Helsinki, Ghent, and Eurocities will hold a European Week of Cities and Regions session to shed light on what opportunities a proactive city can offer citizens. The session will take place on 11 October from 09:30-11:00 at the Jacques Delors building, Brussels.
EWRC 2023: Energy transition – making local and regional solutions replicable for Europe
As part of EWRC, Pomorskie region is holding a session on Energy transition – making local and regional solutions replicable for Europe on 11 October from 09:30-10:30. This workshop will cover initiatives that are contributing to decarbonisation efforts at local/regional level and showcase projects that are establishing integrated local energy systems (energy islands).

In view of the upcoming departure of ERRIN's current Director of projects, Ryan Titley, ERRIN is looking for a replacement to start in September 2024. The new colleague will work closely with the ERRIN Director on strategic planning, and lead the implementation and development of ERRIN's current and future project portfolio. Feedback opportunity for Horizon Europe work programme 2025
The European Commission opened an opportunity to provide input for the development of the Horizon Europe ‘main’ work programme 2025. Submitted responses will contribute to the co-design of the work programme 2025, covering all six clusters, research infrastructures, European innovation ecosystems, the five EU Missions and the New European Bauhaus facility. The deadline for feedback is 6 May 2024 midday, CEST.

The Cities Mission Platform extends its support to all European cities
The Cities Mission Platform, supporting the work of the 112 Mission Cities towards climate neutrality, is now extending part of its support to any European city aiming to achieve climate neutrality by 2050 at the latest. Through this programme, cities across Europe will be able to learn from the approaches implemented by Mission Cities, engage in online and in-person city-to-city exchanges at the EU and national level, and gain access to the online Mission Portal and its resources. On 5 July, the European Commission adopted the new European Innovation Agenda with the aim of positioning Europe at the forefront of the new wave of deep tech innovation and start-ups. The European Committee of the Regions and the European Commission DG RTD held on 22 June in Brussels the first Knowledge Exchange Platform (KEP) event of the year, focusing on the way ahead for building synergies for successful green and digital transitions. DT4REGIONS Platform and Award launched
As of 1 July 2022, the first version of the DT4REGIONS Platform to enable the development of AI and Big Data solutions for regional and local public administrations will be officially released. At the same time, the DT4REGIONS Award for the best solution for digital transformation based on AI and Big Data currently in use by public administration in Europe will be launched.

NetZeroCities - Call for Pilot Cities
NetZeroCities, project in which ERRIN is a partner, is launching a Call for Pilot Cities on 5 September 2022. The NZC Pilot Cities programme will test and implement innovative approaches to rapid decabornisation over a two-year period. Cities interested in this call can participate in the upcoming webinars on 4 July and 5 September.
