Smart Cities
The objective of the Working Group is to act as a platform to offer early information on priorities and funding opportunities linked to Smart Cities, with a focus on the EU Mission on 100 climate-neutral and smart cities by 2030. The WG aims to facilitate sharing of experiences and support matchmaking to develop new partnerships and projects. The WG targets the smart city topic from an integrated and holistic approach, addressing issues such as citizen engagement, data-driven policy and smart governance models, while exploring synergies between the areas linked to smart cities as addressed by the ERRIN WGs on Energy and Climate Change, Transport and ICT.

EU Missions creating new markets: the crucial role of the triple helix collaboration
The TRAMI project, in collaboration with ERRIN, is organising a Mutual Learning Event exploring the role of industry, academia and public authorities in achieving the objectives of the five EU Missions through triple helix collaboration. This event offers a unique opportunity for industry, public authorities and academia to discuss how to intensify collaboration and joint action toward achieving the ambitious goals defined by the EU Missions. The event will take place on 17 May from 09:00-12:00.

5G for Smart Communities Launch Event
The European Commission is hosting an event on the 5G for Smart Communities Support Platform. This event will bring together interested stakeholders from mobile network operators, alternative operators, equipment manufacturers and public authorities, to share ideas and insights on ways to achieve Europe's Digital Decade targets for 2030.

NetZeroCities Call for Twin Cities is now open
The NetZeroCities project, in which ERRIN is a partner, has opened the Call for Twin Cities. The Twinning programme is a tailored learning programme for knowledge sharing and transfer of good practices between the upcoming selected Twin Cities and the cities that were selected to join the NetZeroCities’ Pilot Cities Programme in March 2023. The deadline for applications to become a Twin City is 30 June 2023.
DT4REGIONS Award- Voting now open for Public's Favourite Award
In response to the call for applications for the DT4REGIONS Award, 34 AI and Big Data solutions have been submitted. A dedicated jury has selected 12 solutions on the basis of five criteria. Voting for the Public's Favourite Award is open until 12:00 on 19 May.

ERRIN Spring AGM 2023
Save the date for ERRIN’s 2023 Spring Annual General Meeting (AGM), which will take place on 22 June from 14:30-18:00 CET, followed by a networking reception. Driving urban transitions to a sustainable future partnership
The Partnership Driving urban transitions to a sustainable future (DUT) is the proposal for an urban partnership under Horizon Europe, which is currently under development led by JPI Urban Europe. ERRIN has been invited to participate and actively shape this new partnership.

'Evidence informed policymaking' training course by JRC
A 2-day training course is organised on “Evidence informed policymaking” which will aim to introduce participants to useful tools, train them to navigate between different types of evidence and research methods, and reflect on how to deal with the many challenges of evidence-informed policymaking. Collaborating towards a Horizon Europe mission on climate-neutral cities by and for citizens – how do we ensure smartness?
On 4 December, Lärosäten Syd – the network of Universities in South Sweden – together with the other south Swedish Brussels offices co-organised a policy event in Brussels to present the main wishes and expectations of south Swedish actors on the Horizon Europe mission on cities, as well as to discuss with European partners the main recommendations for the implementation of the mission.

Searching for project partners participating in EU-call CE-FNR-17-2020
This call requires a project consortium of different cities or clusters of cities considering a geographical spread around Europe. Based on this requirement we are looking for further project partners who are willing to establish a European network of bio-based cities with innovative biowaste/waste water treatment technologies or comparable approaches. During our current research about potential partners and cities we figured out increasing efforts in sustainable handling of human waste matter.
