ERRIN Extraordinary General Meeting on 16 November 2023 – important announcement for members

ERRIN Extraordinary General Meeting on 16 November 2023 – important announcement for members

Save the date for the ERRIN Extraordinary General Meeting, which will take place on 16 November 2023 from 14:00-16:00 CET in the ERRIN premises (Rue du Luxembourg 3, 8th floor, 1000 Brussels).

As discussed during the Spring AGM, this Extraordinary General Meeting is organised to make the necessary changes to the ERRIN Articles of Association following requirements by the new code for Belgian companies and associations. Approval of the updated Articles is crucial for the functioning of the network. For the Extraordinary General Meeting and the vote to be valid, a minimum of 2/3 of the ERRIN members must be represented at the Meeting. Therefore, the engagement of each member is of crucial importance.

Given the formal content of the meeting, we invite one designated voter per member organisation to take part. Full members (with a permanent representation in Brussels) should participate in person. Associate members (without permanent representation in Brussels) who cannot join in person will be able to register to vote online.

Learn more about the meeting and register on the event page here.

If your organisation cannot be represented in the meeting in any way, we kindly ask you to contact teresa.vio@errin.eu .

The current version of the ERRIN Articles of Association can be consulted here. The proposed revised version was published on the event page in September, to allow time for all members to raise their questions in advance. Please consult it in advance and get back to teresa.vio@errin.eu with any potential questions ideally by 9 November, as the approval of the revised version also requires a 2/3 majority.

In case the approval is not reached, members will be required to gather for a new vote.

Call for Action: Youth Freedom of Expression

Call Information
Funding Programme
Deadline of the Call
Proposal Information

Program priorities:

Horizontal: Common Values, civic engagement and participation

Youth: i) Promoting active citizenship, young people’s sense of initiative and Youth entrepreneurship, including social entrepreneurship,
ii) Reinforcing links between policy, research and practice (evt Increasing quality, innovation and recognition of youth work).

We are aiming for the deadline 4 October 2023, but would potentially consider the next deadline in February 2024 for this proposal.

________________________________

Challenges / needs the project addresses:

I) Youth and young adults in Europe experience several barriers limiting their participation in discussion and public debate. Examples on such barriers are too high a threshold for self-expression, lack of skills, harassment and hate speech deter young people from debating and too little scope for healthy debate.
II) Existing available tools and learning materials on freedom of expression and democracy are only to a small degree used in formal education and other learning situations
III) There seems to be a lack of platforms or forums where organizations and activists working on shared issues related to enabling freedom of expression among youth can meet and exchange ideas.

________________________________

The three main activities in the project would be:

  • Studies on tools available for youth, teachers, librarians, and others. Assemble user information and suggestions for changes. Preferably studies in each partner country. Draw a road map for enhanced solutions that could be implemented.
  • Develop a Network of Youth Freedom of Expression Learning Labs to share methods and practices through a transnational Learning Lab for Youth self-expression based on partners’ models, methods, and experiences. Some testing has already been done in pilots both for the 14-18 and 18-35 age group. These will be developed further, and will also include the age group under 14. Pilots would be regional, national, and transnational.
  • Unite young people in a transnational Youth Freedom of Expression Council.

Climate adaptation as a driver for regional and local policy-making

EWRC side event: Climate adaptation as a driver for policy-making

EU regions are at the forefront of climate change adaptation. With competencies in critical fields such as economic development, transport, energy or health, they have to adapt the way they design and implement regional public policies to reduce and manage climate risks. Building on regional examples from Normandie, Mid-Norway, and South Ostrobothnia, this workshop will focus on ways to ‘mainstream’ climate adaptation in regional public policies and showcase the efforts towards this process in different EU regions. The panel discussion will conclude with a reaction and update from the Mission Adaptation Secretariat.

The registration is now closed. Thank you for attending this meeting.

EWRC 2023 - Workshop 'Providing the right skills for a water smart society'

EWRC 2023 - Workshop 'Providing the right skills for a water smart society'

As part of the European Week of Regions and Cities, three EU regions team up around the training, upskilling and reskilling of water utility operators.

Dedicated LLL VET programmes prep them for EU twin transition, policy implementation and adaptation to climate change. New technologies enable the circular economy, water reuse and zero pollution. All participants will be able to share their regional water challenges and solutions, making a valuable contribution for the future Water KIC.

The event is part of the official programme of the European Week of Regions and Cities. More information and registration is available here

EWRC 2023 workshop - Rethinking the post-industrial transition in cities and regions

The workshop "Rethinking the post-industrial transition in cities and regions" aims to discuss why EU policies, such as the Green Deal Industrial Plan, would benefit from considering cities’ and regions’ territorial perspective. Local and regional authorities help to adapt and shift their territories, yet require strong EU policies, to collectively contribute to the green and digital transition.

The workshop will consider the territorial constraints and regular cooperation between city centres, peri-urban and rural areas. Developing productive areas in cities and regions can create local value-chains, stimulating a local circular and decarbonised economy and more efficient technologies. It is also an opportunity for providing new jobs which are located within the city or close to the cities, and also to develop a more functional and social mix.

Please find more information about the workshop on and regsiter here

    CREATIVITY

ERRIN Culture & Creativity Cluster Project Development Session

The Cultural Heritage and Tourism Working Group is hosting a project development session in collaboration with the Design & Creativity Working Group and the NEB task force, following the call for members and their regional ecosystems to express their interest in the HORIZON Europe calls focusing on culture, creativity and cross-cutting areas such as tourism, circular economy and design.

This interactive event will be an excellent opportunity for members to connect and strengthen potential consortia while sharing successful examples and lessons learnt in the culture and creative sectors. The meeting will start with a series of pitch presentations of project ideas, successful examples of past projects, challenges and development areas that each participating organisation wishes to share with the group, in preparation for the session. An open exchange on the mapping results will follow, in which participants will be divided into groups, each focusing on a different call, and guided through an interactive exercise that will foster connections and project ideas building.

Please note that if your region/organisation has expressed interest in more than one call, we reccomend that more than one representative should be present to avoid missing information and networking opportunities in the calls discussed in the separated groups.

To register for the event, please send an email to teresa.vio@errin.eu and francesca.pozzebon@errin.eu

Please let us also know if your organisation wishes to present a project idea, successful examples or local challenge, during the pitching session.
