Transport
The Working Group promotes cooperation and facilitates dialogue between regions in the field of transport, mobility and logistics as well as with the EU institutions to raise awareness of the regional and local dimensions of the thematic areas. The group fosters discussion on new developments in EU policy and facilitates project development and participation in European projects.

Brussels Talks: How to be an innovative region in Europe?
As part of the event series Brussels Talks, NCBR – Business & Science Poland are organising the online event 'How to be an innovative region in Europe?', with ERRIN director Pirita Lindholm as the main speaker. The event will discuss regional innovations ecosystems, how to support R&I capacities at local and regional level and how to reduce the innovation divide. Furthermore, the support offered by current EU funded programmes and initiatives will be explored.
Translating EU Missions into regional policy
The TRAMI project and ERRIN are organising a mutual learning event on 18 October. The event will aim to showcase a successful translation of the EU Missions approach into concrete policies and tools on the regional level and to foster the discussion on challenges and opportunities with its implementation.
Delivering 100 Smart and Climate Neutral Cities by 2030
Stockholm, Valencia, Angers Loire Métropole, and Copenhagen are four of the cities selected for the Mission Climate Neutral and Smart Cities. These 4 cities are hosting an event on 17 October that will provide inspiration to experts and policymakers, from cities and regions around Europe and beyond, looking to reinforce their own efforts and get new ideas.
Liguria, Eusalp, Europe: mobility perspective by 2050
The Brussels Office of Liguria Region, in partnership with the 'Development of the Logistic and Harbour System' Department and the 'Regional Public Transport' Department, is organising an event in hybrid mode entitled 'Liguria, Eusalp, Europe: mobility perspective by 2050'. The event will provide an overview of the future of transport, especially with regard to sustainability and innovation. The territorial focus will be on Alpine Region, but the keynote speech by DG Move will offer also a broader European perspective on the matter.
Launch of the Scan-Med Observatory
The MOVE21 project will host a high-level workshop on 12 October at the next European Week of Regions and Cities (EWRC). The event will launch the Scan-Med Observatory, a new city-led initiative to pursue action on connected and climate-neutral cities to ensure that local and regional perspectives are included in TEN-T priorities.

The Cities Mission Platform extends its support to all European cities
The Cities Mission Platform, supporting the work of the 112 Mission Cities towards climate neutrality, is now extending part of its support to any European city aiming to achieve climate neutrality by 2050 at the latest. Through this programme, cities across Europe will be able to learn from the approaches implemented by Mission Cities, engage in online and in-person city-to-city exchanges at the EU and national level, and gain access to the online Mission Portal and its resources. JRC report on research and innovation on drones in Europe
The Joint Research Centre (JRC) has recently published a report on the latest research and innovation related to drones in Europe. The report highlights various projects in the drone industry, including drone technologies, U-space management (traffic management), urban air mobility, and drone logistics.
The European Capital of Innovation Awards
In 2024, the European Innovation Council is celebrating the 10th anniversary of the European Capital of Innovation Awards. The competition rewards those European cities that are courageous enough to open their governance practices to experimentation and push the boundaries of technology for the benefit of their citizens. In addition to the monetary reward, the prize brings high visibility in the form of renewed public interest and increased media coverage. The deadline for submission is 18 June 2024, 17:00.
Deadline extension: application for the Cities Mission Twinning Learning Programme
Deadline extended until 7 June! Cities across the EU and Horizon Europe Associated Countries can apply to join the EU Cities Mission’s Twinning Learning Programme between 8 April and 7 June 2024. Facilitated by the NetZeroCities project, in which ERRIN is a partner, the Twinning Learning Programme will pair applicants with the second cohort of Pilot Cities, who act as innovation hubs to pursue activities related to rapid decarbonisation.

The Commission launches evaluation survey on the Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Directive
The European Commission is conducting an evaluation of the Directive on the Deployment of Alternative Fuels Infrastructure and invites regional and local authorities to provide their input. The objective of the study is to provide a comprehensive evaluation of the Directive and to collect and analyse evidence to help assess whether it has achieved its objectives in an effective and efficient manner.
