ERRIN’s Health Working Group (WG) supports members with early intelligence and regular updates about EU-level health policy-related issues, regulations, EU programmes and their funding opportunities. Creating opportunities for interregional cooperation in the Health area is one of the WG’s main objectives. The WG is also a vehicle for networking, profile raising and promoting good practices and projects among health stakeholders in the ERRIN regions.

Policy WG meeting: Looking ahead: Horizon 2025-2027, EU Missions & FP10

The upcoming ERRIN Policy Working Group meeting on 19 October will focus on Horizon Europe strategic planning for 2025-2027, taking stock of EU Missions and preparations to FP10. A European Commission representative will join the event to present the latest insights and discuss with members. We will also explore how ERRIN could best contribute to the ongoing work.

As part of the European Week of Regions and Cities an event on "Social and Health Integration: the roles of Regions in the framework of the European initiatives" is being held. The event will take place on 11 October from 11:30-12:30.

ERRIN event: Organising a regional innovation ecosystem

This in-person ERRIN event on 4 October, organised in line with the Management Board priority on widening and deepening engagement in R&I, invites all ERRIN members to share and explore the ways to develop their regional innovation ecosystems going beyond any specific initiatives or funding opportunities. The event will enable informal mutual learning and exchanges of practices between network colleagues from across Europe in an interactive way.

CoR stakeholder consultation "Towards an integrated EU policy approach to support place-based innovation for the green and digital transition"

​​​The European Committee of the Regions (CoR) is drafting an opinion "Towards an integrated EU policy approach to support place-based innovation for the green and digital transition". Interested stakeholders are invited for a thematic consultation and exchange of views on 3 October 2023 from 10:00-12:00 at the CoR premises. Registration is possible by 29 September.

KEP 2.0 seminar: Implementation of the New European Innovation Agenda – What is in it for regions and cities?

​​​The European Committee of the Regions and the European Commission are organising a seminar on "Implementation of the New European Innovation Agenda – What is in it for regions and cities?" in the framework of their Knowledge Exchange Platform (KEP 2.0). The event will take place on 28 September from 14:30-18:00 in-person in Brussels, with ERRIN Director Pirita Lindholm as one of the speakers.

Health WG meeting: Mental Health

This Health WG meeting will provide an overview of the Communication from the European Commission on ‘A Comprehensive Approach to Mental Health’ and how this can translate to regions. The meeting will take place in person, from 16:00-18:00 on 19 September 2023 at the ERRIN offices.

The fourth call for AHA reference sites is now open. This opportunity is for regions bringing together health and care stakeholders to develop and implement person-centred life course innovation and digital technology solutions for active and healthy ageing. Apply by 31 May.

Healthier together: EC call for non-communicable diseases best practices

At the end of 2021, the European Commission launched its 'Healthier together' initiative to help EU countries to identify and implement effective policies and actions to reduce the burden of major non-communicable diseases. A new call seeks best practices for the EU's non-communicable diseases initiative. 

Second set of calls under Digital Europe Programme open

The second wave of calls for proposals under the Digital Europe Programme has been launched, with the deadline for applications on 17 May 2022. The funding will see an investment of over €292 million in multiple areas.

New EU4Health calls open

Eight new published EU4Health calls focus on innovative approaches to cancer screening, non-communicable diseases, mental health, health technology, workforce and more.

8th Cohesion Report: findings on regional innovation in Europe

The European Commission has published the 8th Cohesion Report: Cohesion in Europe towards 2050. According to the findings, while the Cohesion policy has, in general, helped to narrow territorial and social disparities between regions in the EU, the regional innovation divide in Europe has grown.

ERRIN welcomes new network Chair and Vice-Chairs

The ERRIN Management Board has appointed a new Chair and two Vice-Chairs, who together form the Troika. New Troika will lead the Management Board in 2022-2023.

VITALISE EU Project's second Open Call for Transnational Access to services and infrastructure of Living Labs

VITALISE EU project on Harmonisation of Living Labs in the health domain for increasing access and promote joint research has launched it's second open call. This is a project that wants to open Living Labs infrastructures and services to a wide range of research actions and stakeholders that can benefit from such coordinated resources. Through the Transnational Access (TA) Programme, VITALISE project opens up 17 Living Lab Research Infrastructures located in 7 different countries to external researchers from multiple disciplines, so that they conduct their research studies for free.

Management Board elections 2022 – results

Between 3 and 17 October, ERRIN members could put forward their candidatures for this year’s ERRIN Management Board elections. Five new Management Board members were selected and approved at the Autumn Annual General Meeting on 8 December.

Largest public consultation on Horizon programmes 2014-2027 now open

The Commission has launched the largest public consultation ever held on the past, present and future of the European Research & Innovation Framework Programmes 2014-2027. Stakeholders are invited to share their views on the performance of Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe, as well as shaping the strategic orientations for the Horizon Europe Strategic Plan 2025-2027. The consultation will stay open for 12 weeks, closing in February 2023.
